Sending prayers for your Aunt and your family. |
Update! Sorry, I haven't been able to update before now. The storms got a little rough here, just watches no warnings but it looks like we've got a few more still to come. :( My cousins (my aunts son & daughter) met with the surgeon tonight. He told them that he really felt that the surgery is needed along with radation. So, he went ahead and scheduled her surgery for Monday again. He did tell them don't be scared when more cancer cells pop up while they are doing the radation treatment. He told them that is normal for that to happen. I just don't understand why they couldn't start the radation treatments before her surgery. I would think they would want to maybe kill some of those cells before having to do the surgery. Wouldn't that maybe stop the spreading? I just don't know! I feel so helpless! I don't like that feeling either! I want to thank ya'll for your prayers. I know everything will be ok, God is taking care of her. Ok, its starting to get rough again so I better get off this thing. Again, thanks everyone for the support and the prayers! |

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt! I'll be praying! God is more than capable of miracles! Lots of hugs your way. |
Awww, Hun, Your aunt is still in my prayers! I know w/ my mom the first time they did surgery right away then radiation and chemo. The second time she had cancer they did radiation and chemo prior to the surgery to contain/shrink it, then did it afterwards as well. From hearing about my moms' cancer as well as cancer of other people I know, the one thing I have learned is no too cases are treated alike. It just depends on the stage, location, growth, etc as to what the surgeon decides to do. |
Prayers for your aunt and for you and your family :ghug: from all of us here..... :heart to |
I am sorry I am just now seeing this. Sending healing thoughts to your aunt and hugs to you! |
Update!! Thanks Cindy for updating for me! Sorry such a long update! We're home now, got in at 2 this morning. I didn't have access to the net while we were there. Sunday on our way there, we were a little over half way when I got a call saying they were releasing my aunt to go home for a couple of days. We were all shocked!!! The doctors couldn't get her surgery scheduled for Monday like they told the family, they did get it scheduled for Thursday. When I got to see her Sunday afternoon, she looked the same except she had HUGE, dark circles under her eyes. That's when I found out that she's only had one hour of sleep in a week and a half. They have gave her everything to try to get her to sleep, she just won't sleep. She's on so much medication that would knock someone out for at least week maybe two. We all think she's afraid to actually lay down and sleep. Afraid that she won't wake up. Yesterday, we did get her to lay down and rest. She did sleep for 2 1/2 hours! :) Here's the story on the cancer part. Six months ago she was visiting her son and got really bad sick. They took her to the doctor and they couldn't find anything wrong. They even done a full body scan to see if it was a possible that she might have had cancer then. There was nothing no signs of it what so ever. Now six months later, she has a tumor in her lung and one on her brain. They said shes in stage 4 which is the last stage. The one on her brain is in the baby stages but its growing fast. It's 1 1/2 inch in diameter. They said they would have to take that out first, then radiate her whole head, then treat the lung with chemo and they aren't so sure that more cells will pop up. They aren't sure how much damage is done yet. They did tell us that even if they get all of it from the brain there is a chance that she may go into a coma, or she may have some paralysis. They really don't know the outcome of the surgery, but they do know that if they don't do the surgery soon then well we all know what will happen. They said the cancer that's in her brain is the fast acting kind. That's all I know for now. Just keep praying please. Thanks everyone! |
