oh sweetie... Im so sorry you are going through this... I kind of know how you feel... the last time I got my pap I had not had a period in almost a year... so my obgyn told me that it could be because I have cancer:eek: yeah talk about FREAKING out... my mother and her sister died of cancer.. so it scared me... but he did the pap and it came back normal... its just the waiting thats hard!!! just hang in there .. we will be praying for you! |
Don't worry about them "cutting" something out. They actually use a thing that looks like an ear piercing gun. They push the trigger and that's it, it's over. I'll be thinking about you on the 16th, but don't worry.....I know easy for me to say, but it is very common! |
aawww, it should be fine. do you know if it was low, medium or high grade abnormalities? many many MANY women go through this. if it is low grade there is a very good chance that it will go away on its own. in most people the high grade can even go away on its own or once a LEEP procedure is done to remove the abnormal cells, it usually is gone for good too! the biopsy varys for everyone, but i didnt feel any pain. i had a little bit of discharge but no pain. the LEEP was a little more painful, but still not too bad. in more cases than not the biopsy will show low grade changes which are really nothing to worry about. i was a very unique case because i have a blod disorder and a very low white blood cell count so it progressed to cancer within a few months for me, but for most people, even if they have high grade dysplasia it would take years for it to change to cancer if left untreated. abnormal cells are very treatable with little discomfort! i found a lot of information on healthboards.com when i was going through the same thing. please PM me if you have any questions! i know what you are going through and it is a scary time, but PLEASE know that this is going to be ok and it is soooo good that you found this out very early! This happened to me last year. My pap showed atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS). So I had the biopsy done he said they were pre-cancerous cells, and ended up having to have a colposcopy. I went back for my 6 month exam in January and had a good pap... I have to have 3 good ones before they will put me back on the year to year. So for now, I'll be violated an extra time a year. I was also worried, but everything went ok. Actually my 65 year old Grandma just had the same thing that I had done a couple of months ago. She was scared too. But don't worry! If you have any questions you can pm me! |
I dont know anything about this. But I just wanted you to know you're in my thoughts and prayers. |
SO...I do not know if anyone remebers this post BUT... I had the procedure done today and it wasn't that bad. It was very uncomfortable and a little pinch but then it was over. So glad for it to be done with. I'm fine now and nothing is hurting too bad, just took some tylenol. Thanks for the encouragement again!! I go back in a few weeks to see my results and I am not anticipating anything bad... Thanks all!! :D |
I haven't had this experience but did you have another pap done first? A friend of mine had an abnormal one and her DR did another one and it came back normal, she had never had an abnormal one. Have you had any other abnormal ones? I guess there was something on the strip that showed up being abnormal, but she was fine. |
Well it was abnormal when I went a month ago so we scheduled this appointment. She examined me first and some that there were some changes so she went ahead and did a biopsy. She said she would examine first and if there were no changes or anything she would not have to do it, but...there was... bleh :( So I had to go ahead with the biopsy...ekk. It kinda hurt but I am fine now. Hopefully my results are fine. |
Good to hear you made it through. Hoping everything comes back alright! |
