I took my puppies in to the vet today to get their tails docked. When I got there, there was one woman in the waiting area with a young pitt bull. The receptionist asked the woman, so what are we seeing her for today. The woman said I'm having her put to sleep.

The receptionist said, has she bitten some one, the woman said no she has ruined my carpet and I have gotten fined twice on account of her. She is 9 months old. Then she told me, someone gave her to my son and said it was a pitt/lab mix, but it is clear that it is not a mix.

In our city, pitt bulls have been outlawed. Anyone who had pitt bulls could keep them, but they would not allow any more to be rigistered, so if you obtained one you could not comply with the registration laws.

So she said I called an Out of State rescue agency, ( Council Bluffs Ia and Omaha NE are just separated by a river) so I'm guessing that is who she called. And they told her that they already had too many to care for.

So anyway, the vet office kept the dog and said they would find a rescue to take it but they refused to put a healthy dog down.

Then the receptionist told me that earlier in the week another woman had called and wanted them to put down a 6 mionth old Shi Tzu because she chewed on their furniture. She asked the woman if they had considered rehoming her. the woman said "No she is microchipped and i don't want people calling me up to complain about her." :eek:

I had just heard on the news that they took in a man who beat his pup to death because it peed on his floor, I hope he rots in jail.

It was hard to leave there with out that pitt bull. I told my husband "I almost brought a pitt bull home."

And I think I would have switched Vets if they had put her down.

That is a good vet. Vets in my area will refuse to put animals down and rehome them. People are stupid. She will probably go out and get another dog that she will be unhappy with too.

OMG, I can't believe how heartless people can be!!! Alot of times, these dogs who destroy carpets and furniture are dogs that are not watched and taken care of or trained properly. That's the owner's fault, and their only solution is to put the dog down?? Oh, that makes me so mad!!

I wonder how they would feel if they made a mistake at work, and their boss said "ok we're gonna put you down now".

How terrible. Why are people so irresponsible?

You don't "put down" your CHILD if they mess something up in your home. Dogs are the same way. That dog is A BABY. What do you expect?

Those people who feel the need to put the animals down because they chewed the furniture, destroyed the carpet etc need to be put to sleep:thumbdown It is just so obvious that kind so called people should not have animals or children!!! They would never understand the love your pet gives you.:( That makes me so sad and angry at the same time. :cry:
I am gonna go and gives lots of kisses to Maxi and lots of hugs.

What the H_LL is wrong with people like that! :mad: They don't deserve a pet to give them unconditional love. :thumbdown I'm glad your vet didn't put those dogs down. That was the responsible thing to do. :thumbup:

That is very upsetting....I don't even want to think about how those poor animals were treated in those homes!:(

Wow.. these people are far worse then stupid.. that is being nice..

How awful!! As horrible as that was, I can't imagine hearing an "okay" from the vet's receptionist.

We have licenses to get married or own a gun, we have prenatal parenting classes, and applications for insurance coverage. Some people should have to pass a test to own an animal. Ugh.

I'm glad the vet didn't put the dog down! I really can't believe some people.

You know...as ANGRY as this makes me, it honestly makes me want to cry even more :cry: People can be so cruel.... and it's just very sad. :cry:

P.S. - I just thought I'd share this. My sister in law e-mailed this to me this morning. My brother and sister in laws Daschshund, Odie, chewed a hole in their just-about brand new couch. Chewed a hole RIGHT THROUGH IT. Odie was actually INSIDE of the couch when they got home. This is the message she sent me in the e-mail:

I couldn't find odie last night, well eventually I found him.

Price of new couch $1200.00, picture of Odie inside couch,
priceless....................LOL



Even though he managed to destroy something so high in value, something that is not necessarily "cheap" to replace, they laughed about it. It's sad that more people can't be like this.

That's a really sad story and what a coldhearted woman :mad:

Some people should not be allowed to have pets EVER....what's worse is this is only ONE story - there's so many out there that think nothing of ditching/killing dogs and cats....At least your VET was reputable enough that they wouldn't do it....

I don't understand why someone would get a pet in the 1st place if they can't handle it ? when you bring a puppy/cat into your life - you EXPECT to have little issues like peeing on floors etc....

You can add sharing this story to the "priceless" list. We had one chew through a fiberglass garage door - hole about 4 feet wide by 1 foot tall. All we cared about was all the blood and if he was okay. People have different values................. I thank God for the people with RIGHT values.
