Artist to strike again! Please sign petition to stop him! I have not been able to get on here lately so i dont know if this petition has been posted already. my apologizes if it has but i didn't want anyone to miss this! In 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death. For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition have watched emotionless the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually he died. Does it look like art to you? But this is not all... the prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of the Central American decided that the 'installation' was actually art, so that Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the biennial of 2008. PLEASE HELP STOP HIM. Boycott to the presence of Guillermo Vargas "Habacuc" at the Bienal Centroamericana Honduras 2008 Petition It takes, honestly, a minute at best. I signed also. Unfortunately, there is not much that this petition will accomplish. Honduras has a long way to go as far as human rights goes much less animal welfare. Maybe the organizers of this art event will see the petition and disinvite this "artist". |

WTH?!?!? This is SOOOO screwed up. We mentioned this to my acting teacher today. She thinks its the sickest thing she's ever heard. I'm bringing this up here because I asked her if she thought it qualified as art. She said that the universal rule for art, is "Art can be anything as long as it doesn't physically hurt yourself, ANYONE ELSE, or the enviroment." So, in the art world, according to that, this isn't really covered as art because its hurting the dog. Unfortunatly, that's not written down anywhere as a law so nothing can be done about it. But it just makes me SO angry that this man can get away with it. Why doesn't he take his nack for finding starving dogs, and put it to use rather than torture? :mad: GRRRRRR. This just makes me so angry. |
