need help with a paint color 1 Attachment(s) my bathroom is gray(bathfitters) big mistake,, anyway i want to paint the top walls a different color.. im not into bright colors. i do like modern earthy colors.. the white has to go... im going nuts figuring what goes with the gray for the top walls.. i was going to go with a darker gray, but i dont think its a good idea,. i really like colors in the tan family, but dont think tan goes good with gray in the bathroom.. i want to change shower curtains and window curtains of course. please help me out.. |

Hmmm well if you did curtains with gray and tan/copper stripes then you could paint the walls a tan color and use the curtains and accessories to pull it all together. Or you could do a green with the gray which is still earthy just in a different (cooler) color palette. However, I like your initial idea of the darker gray. That would allow you to bring in colored accents. |
i think yellow works very well with grey..especially a nice soft, pale yellow! |

although i do watch hgtv all the time and they always use dark colors.. my bathroom isnt that small and i do have that large wall cabinet in white.. i will also try to paint the sink cabinet in the same dark color. what do you think about that? |
I would do Benjamin Moore's antique ivory color. I love that color and I think it would match perfect. |

Go with a apricot paint(not to dark) and maybe apricot/silver flower print for the curtains |

I also painted my walls awhile back a color from Behr called Contemplation 700-E... it is a really nice cool tone color... which it seems is what you are looking for... it looks greyish, blueish, greenish.. different shades at different times .... |

1 Attachment(s) look in the background of the flowers ... it looks sorta like that.. the area back there is a bit darker than usual but it gives you a idea.... hope it helps! |
Here's a few ideas... black/tan/white black/taupe/white black/maroon/white black/grey/white black/silver/white grey/yellow/white grey/pink/white/black But I'd look at curtains first and draw some colors from that. I had a bedspread that had purples, silver, black and green in it and that sounds awful but it really was cool. I like clean simple colors, too. Modern furniture - I think that's what you call it. Not futuristic - just clean simple lines. Good Luck Gina! |
cindy, i went into the behr and saw the color contemplation,its nice, but alittle green for me.. i must say, green and blue are colors i dispise.. im getting used that green look though.. im just thinking about accessorising, shower curtains and window treatments.. |
If you're leaving your trim white, what about black? There are some darling black and white wallpapers out there that you could use, too, and only have black on the bottom half ... just a thought. |
the trims will stay white..no black wil be in there anymore... i think im going to go with a darker gray this way i could accessorize with any color i want.. i just have to find a shower curtain and match maybe a shade , like a roman shade.. hows that sound for the window? |

I would suggest going to Linen & Things (or another store) and finding the shower and window curtains you like. Then, pick a wall color from that fabric, or a color that compliments the fabric colors. That's the way I always decorate a room - with a pillow, or a fabric. I was just in Linens & Things today and they have a fabulous selection of shower curtains. If you like modern, a blue (or greenish blue) with the chocolate and tan combination looks great and is really "in" now. You can actually do almost anything with gray, as it looks light enough to almost be "white." Good luck! |
