Help...I have ANTS! I just noticed the buggers crawling on my bathroom floor, ick! I can't figure out where they're coming from, but I think they're only in the bathroom because I havent noticed them anywhere else (yet). What's the best pet-friendly way to get rid of them? Oh, the joys of spring. |
If it's just in the bathroom, you can keep the door closed and put down ant traps. I ant trapped the house like crazy yesterday, I kept on finding lonely scout ants in random places. |
Why not fry them up and eat them?!?!........................ ................................................Ju st kiddin' But there is some type of bug stray out there that is dog/kid safe. It's made from oranges and it is said that squeezing orange juice where the problem is at will help eliminate them.... Could be wrong though... |

Something like this: Orange Guard But this isn't what I was talking about... There is also this thing where you can put the orange pills where you believe they are coming from and the ants will move away or something along those lines... |
Don't know if this will help but..I live in an older house on piers. I had ants in my bathroom and couldn't find the source. Being the woman that I am I got fed up and put caulking in every crack and crevice I could find. My dad came over one day and told me there was a huge ant bed around one of the piers outside the bathroom. lesson learned |
if you wan't to go natural try black pepper, never use ant spray, but traps are ok |
ants You have to be very careful with Yorkies around and using traps, sprays...we live in Florida...ants took over, so we called the exterminator. He sprayed the yard and no ants in 2 yrs...my Yorkies do not go in the grass, just on a patio slab, keep them out of the grass for a few days if you do. |
I had this prob. when I lived in my 1st APT. the people who lived under me, where really nasty. and there where ants in the walls. So what I did was put 7 dust (you can get this at walmart) in the outlets and right out side my front door. they carry it back to there nest and kills them all. With in like a week, I started seeing less and less of them. |
A long time ago, my sister had a really bad ant problem and she used combat ant traps. They worked like a charm! They come in little round plastic shapes and you can pick handle them with no problem. |
Thanks everyone, I'm heading out to the store now. I think I'll use traps and close the bathroom door. I just want them GONE! I keep picturing them marching across my toothbrush:eek: |
An exterminator told me this little trick and it works great. Get a spray bottle and fill it with any kind of suds - diswashing liquid, hand soap, etc.- and spray them, they die instantly. It really works. |

We have a big fire ant problem here in Texas. We live in an older house on blocks and occasionally they find their way in the house. I always use 5% sevin dust. If I see ants coming in the house I just sprinkle a little of the powder in the area where the ants are coming in and I sweep it into the creveses. We also treat our yard around the house with Sevin Yard granules and that helps for awhile to keep ants and fleas away from the house. |
