Earthquake Shock Waves Felt Here.. I hope all of U in West Salem, IL is okay. We live in Seymour, Indiana & this morning @ 5:45 I was woke up by a big boom and vibrations, my Yorkies was all barking to death. Then I thought it was Teddy and Galahad moving around in their playpens, I told them to be still, then I realized it wasn't them, then I thought one of my girls had fallen out of bed so I went in & ask both of them did U fall out of bed, no was their reply or my hubby had went to work & slammed the door (I have a little star hanging on our door knob) I got up and looked, no our truck still setting there. Then I thought oh no someones' breaking into our tool trailer, no no one breaking in. Ask hubby if he had hit the wall since I was on the couch sleepin' due to his snoring and he said no. Then my daughter calls me at 6:30 am & told me about the earthquake. The news just said for us to walk around our house and make sure there is nothing fallen off of the walls. This is scarry to me girls. Isn't it awful what thoughts goes through our minds when something like this happens. I hope everyone in IL is okay. U're all in our thoughts and prayers today! |
My roommates and i felt it round5:30 this morning. Shook my bed pretty hard and my closet mirror were knocking together. little creepy |
Are U all okay there? I know it scared me, my Sister just called me and said it was the earthquake I felt here. Here I'm thinking it's the shock waves. I don't know but they say we could feel more shock waves today. Now I worry about my girls going to school. I just pray everyone is okay thorugh all this. |
We felt it here in Central Illinois too at about 4:30 our time. It shook the whole house pretty hard, shook the bed, rocked the Grandfather clock and moved a few things around in the house. Once I realized what it was it was pretty scary! We've seen pretty good sized waves coming from the center of the lake since we moved here but no one knows why it happens...now I wonder if it isn't little tremors. Gee...maybe it's time to move! Anybody want to buy a log cabin on a lake? ;) |
The news is saying some people felt it here in Knoxville TN.. I didnt, I guess I was sleeping to good  |

We felt it too |
hmmmmm i wonder if thats why 2 of my dogs woke us up at 4:30, i know we are way to far away to feel anything but its strange that they woke up at that time. i do know that the fault line does run up through wisconsin. i to hope everyone and their houses are fine:) |
We felt it here in SW Indiana. It woke both myself and my husband up out of a sound sleep. Poor Daisy was scared to death. She was between us barking and growling. Abby slept right through it. Until I read this, I really didn't know what happened. I thought it might have been an earthquake, but wasn't sure. Glad that damage was minimal. |
I'm in IL but north of Chicago, I didn't feel anything, but then again I was sleeping. I hope all you guys who did feel it are o.k and that there's no damage in your houses. |

I just heard on the news here in Houston that Wisconsin felt the quake so you aren't imagining it been in two earthquakes in the Seattle area- both times my dog warned me before I knew anything was going on- it is a real creepy feeling I hope everyone is ok |
No wonder we felt it here in Evansville! "The epicenter of the earthquake was about three miles below ground, six miles northwest of Mount Carmel, Illinois, and 38 miles north-northwest of Evansville, Indiana, according to the USGS." |
Im in Northwest Ohio and felt it here. It woke me because my windows were rattling. |
We are in Michigan and we did not feel anything here but I just heard it was felt 20 miles away. |
Felt them here in Detroit! I slept thru it of course but my son oddly woke up and my mother felt them also. |
The quake woke me up. I thought maybe the wind is really strong then I thought no it's not that. Then the neighbors dogs were crying afterwards. My husband slept through it. That's the first time I've felt an earthquake, everytime it happens around here I can never feel it. Glad everyone is okay. |
I was up at that time because the dogs woke me up, maybe that's why they were barking. I didn't feel anything. |

A friend in Chicago said she felt her shower door rattle and didn't know what it was:eek: Earthquake rattles Illinois - CNN.com |
I started a thread about the earthquake in the "off topic" area, I did not see this one.... We are in SE Indiana, and we felt it. No damage, no reports of injuries. My hubby is a 911 Dispatcher, and he said the phones were ringing nonstop... He had just pulled into the parking lot when it happened and said that his truck was shaking/rocking for about 10-15 seconds. I had been in bed, and woke up scared and the hair on my arms and back of my neck were standing up. I layed there and wondered what had woke me up, then my hubby called to make sure we were ok... My dogs did not even wake up... I told the kids about it when they woke up this morning. They thought I was teasing until they saw the news on tv... I wish I had felt it! I feel disappointed that I was sleeping when it happened. I heard there may be aftershocks, so maybe I will get to experience it later today... I hope everyone closer to the epicenter are ok and no damage to their homes! We do not have earthquake insurance around here. |
It sounds like we're right across from each other! I'm in SW Indiana...Evansville to be exact. We felt it! Hubby and I both sat straight up in bed. |
We felt it here in St. Louis, it woke us up from our sleep. No damage at our house that we noticed. |
We felt 'em in St. Louis, too! It was freaky. My bed was shaking, which initially, I thought was the wind hitting the back wall (which bed is against). Then I realized it was the whole room shaking. I jumped out of bed and it was surreal to stand there watching my bed shake. My mom, at the front of the house, heard nothing. When I jumped out of bed, I apparently yelled "What the hell?!" Since she didn't feel or hear anything, I thought for a minute that maybe I was just nuts. |
:eek:OMG....I'm glad all of you guys out there in the Mid-west are OK!!! |
Wow, I can't believe the spread of this thing!!! I personally did not feel it, but my daughters dad said he felt it this morning...he is in Clarksville, TN. I thought he was crazy until I heard about it LOL yep, I was sleeping hard. but I have to wonder if that is why the dogs were up so early this morning!! I'm glad everyone is ok :D |
I felt it hear in Scott City, Missouri.... (2 hours south of St. Louis). I thought it was raining outside and it was a thunder boom or something... my bed shook pretty hard... My husband called in the morning and said something about the earthquake... I said "Oh, that's what is was???? Glad everyone is OK. |
I felt it in Cookeville TN this morning too. Jack started to wine and I felt the bed tremble. I didn't know what is was and went back to sleep. Betty |
My husband and I felt it, and we live in GA!!! it was a very faint shaking of the house. I was joking with him and told him I bet it's a tremor....only to realize there really was an earthquake. I can't believe we felt it. had we not already been awake, I doubt we would have woken up. I hope everyone's ok |
We just had a pretty nice aftershock. Everything in the house was shaking and rattling. Daisy and Teddy both wanted to go outside, I think they are nervous being in a shaking house. |
im in southern IL and i felt it pretty big this morning about 430! everything in my room was shaking and a few things fell off the walls, then again at 1015 when i got to work there was a small aftershock....scary stuff! but everyone is ok |
