I want to dye my hair...ideas please 3 Attachment(s) I've never dyed it before. When i was younger it was blondish but it's gotten darker as i grew so now it's like a brown. To me it's a boring brown lol I want to do something diff. (especially caause summer is coming)but don't know what will go with my complexion as I've never done it before and am scared. I have natural streaks of blonde in it, they get lighter in the summer though. I would have it professionally done, i wouldn't do it myself, no waaay lol Any ideas what color i should do it? Here are some pics..the 1st is 2 summers ago, you can see the lights. And the other 2 is my hair darker, during the winter which is how it is now |
I love it in the first picture! Beautiful! I would take that picture to your hairdresser and ask for that with maybe just more highlights. Go one shade lighter on the highlights if you want something bolder. I would leave your base color alone. It is so pretty and rich and it's so hard to go back to natural once it's colored. edit to clarify- i meant one shade lighter than the highlights in the first picture, not one shade lighter than your base color. |
I love it dark! Exotic! Beautiful! |
i say dark! |
2 Attachment(s) I've always had darker brown hair, experimented in High school (like 4 years ago) with blondish brown highlights, it was bad, finally made my way back to darker. I have a lighter complexion but tan, so it's more natural looking. anyway, last time i went I put a lighter brown (kinda almost golden-ish) and a dark mocha/red color, and i loved it. (i think it's the first pic) second one is with lighter red and med blonde in it. You can always ask your hairdresser too, find a good one and they'll be able to help ya with what you want. One recommendation would be if you wear your hair straight (that's the only way mine goes :) ) ask them to foil up the side (not do the straight back kind--it'll look like stripes) Maybe someone could help with terms.. I'm not great at that! :) |

If I were you, I'd leave the BASE color alone and add 2 shades on highlights to my hair. I'd do a light blonde combined with a honey/caramel color. 2 shades of highlights looks so pretty on most people and I think it will look great with your complexion. |

wITH YOUR OLIVE SKIN COMPLECTION, i WOULD DEFINITELY ADD LOTS MORE BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS. tHEY CAN MAKE IT LOOK SO NATURAL AND BLONDE AROUND YOUR FACE WILL MAKE YOU LOOK YOUNGER AND GIVE YOUR SKIN A HEALTHY GLOW. (OOOPS SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS) If you get it highlighted, ask them for 2 or 3 shades so it will look natural |
I personally love dark hair, but only the young can wear it, and since you're still young you can. Once you are 40 it starts to look harsh. So all the gorgeous brunettes of the past are gone. I guess it depends if you want to look "different" or like everyone else. Nothings wrong with either, and btw, you are gorgeous no matter what color you decide. |

My Daughters a brunette and we just put caramel highlights in her hair and it looks really good. She is only 7. Her Dad and I did it ourselves at home. I would do highlights rather than dying all your hair. I dye mine blonde and its a pain to keep up with |

I would do highlights just ear to ear, pick a shade for the first time that you do between 2-3 levels of your natural see how you like that & then you can always go back in june/july & go a little more & a little lighter if you want too or if not that would be the easiest way to grow back in! |
The dark is very pretty. If you have highlights, you won't be able to see the new hair coming in as much. I like the dark red look that I see sometimes. You'res will turn out great I'm sure, we'd love to see pics after. |
You are beautiful! I actually really like your natural color! Try something subtle at first like golden highlights or something. Just be careful! My natural hair color is pretty close to your color. I was highlighting my hair with blonde since I was about 16 and now 7 years later I am trying to get back to my natural hair color after all this time. Totally figures. Haven't colored it in about a year and a half now. :) |

Now with that being said, this is JMHO. Since you've never colored your hair before, I wouldn't do anything drastic. I would gradually do a caramel highlight, or maybe even a red highlight (but not a bright red) more of a burgundy or a cinnamon highlight. You want to try to stay with warm colors that will mesh with your natural hair color. Also when you go to get it done, have them to foil your hair. It's healthier to do it that way, than to pull through a cap. Plus it don't hurt either! That is if you do highlights. Now if you want to do all over color, you can go a up to (possibly a light brown)medium light brown to a light black, or you can even do a dark auburn red to maybe a dark cinnamon or a dark burgundy color. I wouldn't try a blonde color not with your skin tone. If you do an all over color have them to paint it on not the dump method. But like I said this is JMHO. Good luck in whatever you decide! |
Also keep in mind that you have dark eyebrows (like I do) so you really can't go too blonde without looking completely oddly fake. |
