My $250 UGH OH! 2 Attachment(s) So last night was my daughter's school Spring Extravaganza. They did really well...between the raffle tickets, silent and live auction, they managed to raise $140,000.00! Well, they started the live auction off with cakes. I've never participated in a live auction before and thought I'd have a little fun. I never expected to win. I thought someone would outbid me and I'd walk away...nope...not this time. God must have known what I had in my pocket because what I brought ended up being what I paid! Now, my cake was the prettiest...and cheapest! ;) The first cake went for over $500...the last cake (a chocolate with chocolate covered strawberries) went for $1,200!!! They even auctioned a 7 day, 6 night cruise (valued at $7,000) for $12,000!!! At least DH wasn't mad. :p |
really cute cake, though...........good cause.............& tax deduction!!;) |

how does it taste?? $ for a good cause should make it easier to swallow ;) |
wow 250 for a cake? but hey its for a good cause:) does it taste good?? |
I love auctions!!!! What a bid, but pretty cake..... My family always holds a "pie auction" (for ALLLLL the family members and friends) when someone is in need of financial help......They are FUN....course, we don't get into the hundreds per pie....but it is fun and we raise money for the ones in need. I remember one auction, my DH bid $50 for a home-made coconut cream pie but after the auction, he went to get it and someone had already taken it....the person in charge of that auction, needless to say, was never the one in charge again.....course, the $50 then just became a donation...and we went back to once you won it, it was handed to you! (works a lot better) I also remember once when my grandfather was alive, he would be outrageously and then whatever he won, he wouldn't take it, but put it back up there for more bidding. (awwwww...my grandpa) |
Wow thats a great lookin cake! |
Neat cake! Now how did it taste? |
Sounds like you had fun! The cake looks great, hope its tasty! |
Well, the cake itself is pretty good. That white icing is like paste though...:p It practically pulls off in sheets! I showed the pictures to a lady at work and she said it was one of those expensive cakes. They use SOOO much of some special type of sugar to make the pretty white sheets and that alone probably cost $50. |
:yelrotflm You better savor every single bite! :D |
