Judy, it is a fun and easy (stress free) way to help family members in need. Sometimes, medical bills get outrageous, but you don't ask for help...so this is a good way for the family to all come together.....and my family (not just my parents and grandparents...but all the aunts, uncles...people I never see, etc).....is huge!
Sometimes, they will do potluck dinner prior to the auction and sometimes, they ask for pantry items as well....where that is either given to the family in need or auctioned off too.
AND we definitely recommend if you are the winning bidder, the pie is handed directly to you, instead of going back to the table. Because, they sometimes get "taken"! I guess, if someone is willing to actually do it right, that would be better....but we are normally sitting at tables, and it is funny to see some people w/ all their pies in front of them! |
