I agree. As this child grows up and understands how he/she became don't you think it will be disturbing to him? Let's not forget peer pressure also. Kids can get depressed, take drugs or just become dangerous because of their life style. You see it on TV almost every week. Kids with guns killing others because they are just so unhappy in their way of life. Something led them to become this way and this is one of those stories I think we will see in the future on TV. I dunno call me silly but If the child is wanted, loved, and healthy....who cares what sex had it.....Better than an unwanted child with parents who dont give 2 hoots about them. I am a believer that being transgender is not a choice its something you are born with as well as being lesbian, gay, etc.. You just are and until I walk in those shoes...I wouldn't judge it. Thats just me tho. I also agree with SimonandHallie education is key on a topic like this! |

The only Problem I have with all this is the fact that *They* said they were afraid of Violence and People harassing them...... You think all the media and Oprah attention is Going to help?????? I didn't know this was coming on oprah yesterday b/c I only get to watch it if I'm not working, but I turned it to oprah & they said man pregnant blah blah & my twelve year old's eyes got big & he shreeked "MOMMA" & so I had to start explaining all this. I wish they would think of other people & who all might be watching when they do this, & I agree if they didn't want the attention they would have never reported it b/c nobody would have known otherwise. |

Sorry! I didn't mean to be confusing, they showed about the pregnant man the other day that it was coming up on her show that was when my son saw it. It is on today on oprah at 4:00 here channel 8. |

This is disgusting and should be against the law. This poor child. It will have 2attention whore parents who are selfish. This poor child will be confused beyond belief not to mention no normalcy in his/her life. Shame on them. Call it ignorant or whatever, but I'm sad for what this world has come to, and sad that I have to eventually raise my kids in a world with these people. :mad: |
I don't really see what the awful deal is. Certainly having 2 of the same sex parents in this society isn't all that abnormal anymore.:confused: I don't agree with going on tv and making a wierd deal about it but certainly these people won't tell their child the situation until the child is age appropriate to know the details about he/she actually came about in this world and the choices the parent's made about their own sexual identity. I know several same sex couples (most of them Professional individuals) that have successfully raised wonderful well adjusted children. I seriously believe, all a child needs is to be loved and know they are wanted to be a successful adult in our society. |
The main thing is that the child is loved and cared for. On a personal note, my grandsons have a deadbeat dad who doesn't care one iota about them. I think he's the worst kind of parent. |

It's too bad that we live in a society that judges this person for his/her choices, but that is just the way it is. I, too, worry about this child as it matures and I think the child most likely will require some therapy. I sincerely hope that they did not do this for monetary reasons, but just to put it out there... because lets face it, this would not stay a secret for long and I fear that safety will become a very important issue soon. Thomas made a very profound statement in his interview, " I see pregnancy as a process,it doesn't define who I am." As far as I'm concerned as long as this child was conceived in love and will continue to be loved and adored ... who really cares how it happened? Love is love .... and every child is a gift from God and deserves to be adored in its own right. Just because something is different does not make it ultimately wrong. You know.... this same topic was on the radio this morning.. and I personally feel that "God does not give us things we cannot handle" and this is a good example of that.. it may not be the "norm" but it is what it is and we as compasionate human beings should try our best to accept what has happened and think of the child..... yes when it grows up it will ask these questions however , this little girl is a blessing from god to the parents that couldnt have children and desperatly wanted them and is lucky to have 2 parents who will love her and support her. Not many kids can say that... and in my opinion there is always a first time for everything that's how science evolves doesn't it? |

I feel that these parents really seemed to love this child and wanted her dearly. IMO society is going to make it a problem, not the parents. To each there own, who are we to judge them for wanting a child, they obviously love each other. |
