Some of our favs:

There is a small vineyard in Napa called Darioush. We love the Merlot and Cab.
It is a owned by an Iranian family. We did a tasting there last April and fell in love with it. Such a beautiful place to visit too. http://www.darioush.com/index.html

We also love Carpe Diem Cab YUM... also small vineyard.

And last but certainly not least!!!! My fav of all favs
Domaine Carneros Sparkling wines.(Napa)( Tattinger)

LOL you're my kinda gal! I frequently do the same...last night I had a glass to get through my work project that took from 8 pm until after midnight...and that was after working a 10 hour day, plus a 16 hour day before that...

Hmmm...now you have me craving some wine...

Yayyyy!!! Beringer....keep buying it, LOL;) . BTW, the former winemaker, Ed Sbragia from Beringer now has his own winery called Sbragia Family Vineyards....excellent reds if you can find them!

I wanted to say that the Dog House "Maxi's Merlot" wine that I got the other day supports Guide Dogs for the Blind....there's a little tag on the bottle that tells about their support and it says that they donate .50 for every bottle they sell to Guide Dogs. South African wines are the new, hot, terroir! I haven't had any yet, but it's on my to do list for sure! There's quite a few that have rated really high in Wine Advocate and the Spectator. Do you have any favorite wineries from there and any varietals you especially enjoy?

I loooove wine, I collect it actually I have a wine rack with about 45 bottles or so, my favorite varieties are mellow reds and crisp whites, dont really have a particular brand in mind I just like to pick new ones from these catagories, I think red goes well in the winter esp around the holidays and a good sauvingon blanc or pino for the summer! cant wait until tomorrow I am having some friends over for a wine and cheese/ mani pedi party to celebrate my newfound freedom;)

Same here - I heard they were excellent so we need suggestions for sure.:thumbup:

My best friend turned me on to some very good Spanish wines - my favorite being "Valminor" with the little ' thing about the "n". At about $17/bottle, it's still a little pricey for me so I enjoy it at her house! ;)

Angie Spain makes the best Rioja wines out there! Yumm...and some you can find for $12 a bottle.:animal-pa

I will definitely keep that in mind.... thanks! What's a "Rioja"? Is that the name of it? Or is that a type... like "chardonnay"? Don't want to sound like an idiot when I ask for it at the store! LOL

Yes you are correct - it's a type of wine like chardonnay, etc. Portugal makes fabulous wines that are very reaasonable as well. ;)

That is by far my favorite white wine. I often take it when bringing a bottle to someone's house because it is generally well liked, a good combo of sweet and crisp.

I think you and I have very similar red wine tastes. I spent a summer in Florence in 2005 and found a true love in the vino. And a good bottle over there isn't about cost. Some of the best chianti was only 2 euros! I like yellowtail too, and am surprised that there are a lot of Australian reds that I like.

I often find that a pinot noir is a good red wine that most people agree on. It is not very dry or acidic, which is what turns most people off about reds.

Anyone going to the YT meetup??? I know I will be endulging that weekend...

I'm more of a champaigne drinker then a wine drinker, but I really do like Moscada (I think that's how you spell it). I believe it tastes more like champaigne, which is probably why I like it.

COUNT ME IN! :) I'll be there...I have heard talk of lots of wine, and something about blenders for frozen drinks too ;)
