I have the duets also and I often have the moldy smell...I always set it on an extra rinse cycle which takes it to about 90 minutes for one load. I really don't see that they are that much better than regular washers...they look neater especially in the different colors. |
I have had a Kenmore front loader for about 6 years and love it! I will never go back to a top-loader. |

I have the front load Kenmore in Cherry Red! I love it. Be sure to get the stands that go under them to make them taller. It is sooo worth the extra money. Have fun! |

I have the Maytag Neptune front load washer/dryer and love them. Got it in 2005 and only had white to choose from , surely would have gone with blue. I recommend it. It does a great job in half the time and saves on electricity as well.:star: |
We use SA-8 detergent which works fine in our Kenmore front loaders. I love the children's clothes cycle -- I never have to spot treat now. It takes a little longer, but is so much easier. The moldy smell we don't have. I leave the door of the washer open at the end of the day and it dries naturally overnight. It has a "cleaning" cycle, but we haven't had to use it yet. With dog bedding and puppy laundry, I wash everyday. I'm so glad I have my Kenmore. |
Based on your responses it sounds like those of you with a "sanitation" cycle don't have the moldy smell issues. I'm tempted to sell these with the house and buy some with that sanitary cycle. When we bought these I thought I'd never need it... but I would love to have it for kitchen towels, etc. I've tried vinegar, bleach, cleaning the rubber ring. It doesn't transfer the moldy smell to the clothes as long as you don't let them sit, so I just deal with it. I try to leave the door open too but I don't know how much that helps. They are in a tight hallway and I know it gets closed more than it should. |

Just curious, did you decide on which washer to get? We really like our front loader, very happy with it. Patti and Jack and girls |
