FaceBook? Soooo, almost ALL of my daughters friends have FaceBook...and now she wants it too.... Does anyone have FaceBook? What do you think of it? Safety? Is 14 too young for it? I would appreciate any thoughts! THANKS!!! :hug: |

I have Facebook. I like it better than Myspace b/c I don't get as many weird people that I don't know trying to add me as a friend or sending me odd messages. I don't think 14 is too young for facebook as long as you monitor it. IMO, it seems safer than myspace. |
I agree with everything that has been said. I have a facebook account too and I am almost as addicted to it as I am YT! You have the ability to set the security limits so only her "friends" can see her information. My 14 year old neice has an account. I know there are high school networks within..there may be middle school networks too so she can find her classmates. |
couldn't agree more! i think myspace is a little shady and much easier to hack into than facebook. The software programmers from Facebook have made it virtually impossible to compromise. I love Facebook and like everyone else has said it is very easy to adjust the security settings. on a WAY SIDE note...your daughter is far from college age...but these sites are so prevalent, schools are searching students on facebook and myspace and looking at their profile and pictures as part of admittance (this happened at many the grad schools i applied to, to see how serious of a student i was). and i must comment that you and yours daughter must have a very good relationship from how it sounds, congrats :) |
I agree with those that have said Facebook over MySpace. There are some interesting characters on MySpace. Just make sure if she chooses to join a network on Facebook that it's her school, not the area you live in. Then only people from her school can see her profile...but like others have said there are more security features you can add. |
I have a FaceBook. I don't have a MySpace because I don't feel that its safe at all. However, with FaceBook, it can be set so that anyone who wants to see her profile has to be friends with her first. and she has to approve all friends (and there's also an option for "limited profile" if its someone she knows but doesn't really know, if you understand what I mean). FaceBook is very safe and very secure. Have her join in her school's network. |
Thanks everyone...I guess, I can't get on there and look around w/o having an account, huh? I thought I would look and see what some of her friends "pages" looked look, but it wasn't letting me...darn!!! |

I really like facebook and I personally don't think 14 is too young to have a facebook page. If you have a facebook page, then you can add your daughter as a friend and keep an eye on her page and what is being posted on it. However, it is addicting and I find between YT, Facebook, and Dogbook, I am not getting much done around my house!:rolleyes: |
