well he has been doing so very well sugar has stayed at 81 so now we encounter the problem of picc line they are insisting in general anesthia my brother says no(tooo many risks for nick)they want to stop feeding him for 8 hoors to see how his pancreas will react and they have to be prepared just in case he crashes to pump him up with glucose all over. so thre 1st choice is the picc line and 1 iv or no picc line and 3 ivs. my brother is refusing the picc line due to the high risk involved in putting him under. so they are mad(the hosp)and the nurse states that he fights to much(nick)and its going to be very hard to put 3 ivs in him????he is only 5 wks old!!!how can you not do it???not to question the nurse because he is a baby and the veina are horrible to get but thats the parents decision and are not willing to take the risk to put him in any kind of danger-thanx cathy will keep you guys posted please pray that he does well for those long 8 hours of no feeding!!!!!!!!!and he doesnt crash

just lit 3 candles for him thanx you guys for doing that for him i have no words to express my thank you!!!!!!!just so worried i wish i was there in the hosp too helping my sister in law :(

well he went 18 hours without drinking formula or water and maintained himself until about 2ish then his blood sugar went from 81 to 40!!!!he did great!!as of right now he has been rule out of the pancreatic piece removal(yeah)and now they are talking about his tongue surgery yeah again so we are blessed (THANK YOU JESUS YOU HAVE BEEN SO GOOD TO US)and thank you all yters for having a heart and compassion towards my family and myself (we are still not out of the woods) but looking really good.THANK YOU GOD YOU HAVE SEND US A TRUE BLESSING!!!!!!!!!!! AND THANK YOU TO ALLYTERS FOR ALL THE PRAYERS AND CANDLES I WILL STILL KEEP YOU POSTED EVERYDAY UNTIL HE COMES HOME***********CATHY********

Thank You,thank You Cant Stop Saying Thank You For All The Prayers, Cathy-we Are Still Not Out Of The Woods But I Can Really Sun Was Shinning Today In My Office :) Hopefully Tomorrow Will Be Better Than Today Only With God By Our Side.

What wonderful, encouraging news!! I am so happy, I am in tears! Cathy, I can't even imagine how elated you were to hear today's news. What a fighter little Nicolas is! I will be praying for continued improvement. God bless you all.

Yea sounds like yesterday was a good day. Still praying though. What surgery on his tongue? I hope & pray that all goes as good. I will light a candle today, and continue to prayfor your family and especially for Nicholas.

well today has been a good day for nicolas his sugar has been very good. mom is ver sick with the flu so i am making her a package with some med that my brother and i are sending her, because she cant leave the hospital . bad news is that the insurance company will not pay for nicolas' tongue surgery unless its medicallynecessary meaning stops breathing, eating or causes other major problems:( so i was wonderwing does anyone here have any idea on we can start a fundraiser for him???not thru yorkietalk but here where i live maybe someone here has a relative that has done it????just need some advise???i'll probably start a new forum just to ask and see howmany people would answer or maybe someone out there has aq relative with the same disorder. good night guys and thax for all your prayers but we have to find a way on how to get this surgery for him. my brother is going to call sopme churches but we have no idea of waht we are doing???

Thank you, Cathy, for another great update. I cannot believe insurance companies!! grrrrrrrrrr I don't understand them and their decisions, I only know that they are not fair! I don't have a clue about fundraisers but will be praying for a way to do this for Nicolas!

Glad he is doing better. I have seen fund raisers that have been done for young kids/babies that are going thru things like this.
Contact a news channel/newspaper/bank etc.
They are usually the ones who get this things going by getting the word out.
Banks will set up an account for donations in his name etc.
People always feel safer when donations going to a bank set up to handle these things.
We had a young child in our area with cancer and there was an outpooring of support.
They even did the bracelets to help fundraise.
We are still praying for him and your family. I am really sorry that the insurance companies are not more considerate and humane to people while going thru things like this. It is truly a shame.

There should be a social worker at the hospital that can help the family make arrangements to take care of financial difficulties.

Will continue to pray for little Nicholas.

I don't know how I missed this! But I saw you talk about it in another thread, so I searched this one out. I am so sorry for little Nicolas' trouble, but am so happy that he seems to be doing well. Sounds like your family is amazing and I'm sure that Nicolas is gaining strength from you all!

Any news?? Hope little Nicolas was better yesterday. Is his Mom's cold any better? I am still praying for him and for his family to find a way to give him his surgery! Is there anything new with that .... will his insurance at least pay a portion of it?? God bless you all.
