(May 15) -- Up until last week, it was a smooth, glorious ride on 'American Idol' for David Archuleta. The 17-year-old was a fan favorite and seemed untouchable as the odds-on bet to win this season.

Then things took a rocky turn. His father was banned from backstage to avoid interference, and Archuleta -- who normally cleans up with the show's final performance -- was bumped to an earlier, non-closing slot. Could the golden boy be losing his luster a week before the finals thanks to the show's producers?

I noticed that.....the first spot is the kiss of death. I read somewhere else that family, friends etc have never been allowed back stage but who knows what is the truth. The Dad is a problem, that is certainly for sure.
Poor kid. He will have his day and I think they both will get great contracts. I'm happy however it goes but happier if David C. wins.

bummed for Syesha, she is wonderful, beautiful and classy!

Im sure she'll have a career but I do like her better than David A.

I liked Syesha too. She really seemed to get better and better as the weeks progressed. I agree with the beautiful and classy comments. I wish her the best of luck and success.

For those want to know the order of singing next week (by coin toss), it's in "white font" in this reporter's article. They apparently did it following last week's show.

-- Simon is on Jay and Jay called him out on his look while Fantasia sang last week -- Simon definitely confirmed what his face said - he said it was like a first round audition - a mess.

He said he wants to see David Cook win

I thought he would have said David A at the beginning of the season -- I guess we will see how they both do tomorrow night -- I really think no one was totally tremendous last week with all 3 songs, so we'll see if they can both shine tomorrow thru the whole show - because if you're going to be a star, you need to pull it out every time

I agree - I hope they both have a great night. Because after the hoopla of the results show is over, it doesn't really matter which one wins. There is a great future possible for both of them!
