Last year at this time, Melinda Doolittle was appearing weekly on American Idol.

Melinda finished third in last year’s American Idol competition and has been busy touring and recording ever since.

The former professional back-up singer from Brentwood, Tenn., has been on tour as part of Dreyer’s Slow-Churned Light Ice Cream American Idol Tour and has a new album scheduled to debut in June.

The tour was part of a promotion on the American Idol web site (www.americanidol.com) that allowed fans to vote for their five favorite ice cream flavors with a chance to win an in-home ice cream party for 25 people with Melinda performing live. Doolittle is a spokeswoman for Dreyer’s ice cream, which comes in several “American Idol” flavors. Doolittle describes her debut album, which comes out in June, as “kind of eclectic.”

“I’m a soul girl at heart,” she said. “So it’s got soul. It’s got some groove to it. But I like that little rock edge. So, it’s a little gritty.”

She says her life has changed dramatically since her appearance on American Idol.

I loved Kelly Clarkson from the beginning...I have both her cds, Breakaway and My December, I have to admit the last one is not all that great. I also bought Tamyra Gray's cd from season 1. I've been meaning to buy Carrie Underwoods cd from Season 4, just haven't. I have Chris Daughtry's and Elliot Yamin's cds from Season 5, thought about buying Katherine McPhee's cd but haven't. I am going to buy Jordin Sparks cd. And I will definitely buy Josiah Leming's cd when his comes out, (he didn't make it past Hollywood week this season) he just recently signed with WB. I really liked his voice and have listened to the songs he has written on his myspace page.

Oh wow, I remember Josiah!! Thanks for the link. I was crying at his clip on Ellen. He has such interesting back story, talent, and voice (sounds a bit like a Brit with a southern accent). I'm so happy for his continued interest and success.

He does sound british when he sings doesn't he? Simon, Paula and Randy questioned him about that, I think it has to do with his favorite singers/bands like Cold Play. He does have an interesting back story, I can't wait for his cd to be released...I wonder if it will happen before the winner of this season's cd is released. It will be interesting to see who's cd sells the most, considering he was cut during Hollywood week.

My guess will be Carly, Brook White or possibly Michael Johns. Of the three I would rather see Brook White go.

This is so funny - I just went to the link about Josiah and there is this great big thing about Demand he comes to these different cities - today it says Des Moines -- so I went on to demand it

-- how cool if he would come, although it looks like he has a lot more demand for his attn in much bigger cities.

I was so unimpressed by Carly & David Cook last night. I also did not get into Jason Castro last night - I don't know maybe I just didn't appreciate that version of Somewhere over the Rainbow

That version that he did was actually a version that someone recorded - I cannot remember who the singer was but that is where the ukelele (sp?) came from.

My fav is Michael Johns. I love him.
