Can anyone help me with a Printer question???? (my yellow isn't working!!!) I had a paper jam and now my yellow color isn't working!!! They are new ink cartrides and I have an HP photosmart 7960. Ever since the jam its not printing right. I've cleaned the cartridges several times. did a couple calaborations and still its not working right! I've spent over an hour trying AGHHHHHHHHHH! Any suggestions??? I have things I need to print :( |
I just can't get it to work! Its printing with a blueish greenish hue. |
No one???? Oh I'm so frustrated....These are BRAND new cartridges and were working great before I just had a paper jam!!! I don't know what to do!!!!!!!!! |
Try resetting the printer by unplugging it for a few minutes. Check to make sure there usn't any paper stuck near the ink cartridge too. |
Make sure the yellow cartridge is seated properly, and that there is nothing broken inside due to the paper jam. |
Thanks guys but its still not working :( Its printing with a blue tint now. I ordered more ink to see. The only thing I did was pull the paper out from the front  I didn't yank it hard but had to pull firmly. I don't get it??? and ink is sooooooo expensive!!!! I'm so mad! |
Brenda, what kind of printer is it? |

Does it use the Type 2 Ink? If so, take the cartridge out, use a little rubbing alcohol and gently rub the copper head. Be absolutely certain that the alcohol is dry before putting the cartridge back in the computer. |
I don't know if its a type 2 ink but I use HP56, HP57, HP58, and HP59 cartridges. They do have copper on them. I can try that tonight and see if that works! Thanks! |
Brenda ,go into your printer properties and align your print catridges. |
Ok the alcohol didn't work and neither did alignment. I just don't get it? Maybe because the ink is "compatible" ink??? |
Something similar happened to me with a canon printer I had. First it was one color then the other. It always happened after I put a new cartridge in. They said the jets were clogged or something and that it would cost almost as much to fix it as getting a new printer, so we got a new HP. The reason it happens, I think they said, is that you have to turn your printer on and off frequently (like daily) and we tended to leave ours on. When you turn it back on it automatically cleans out those heads, so it doesn't have time to harden and clog. At least that's how I understood it. Actually I have a ton of ink for a canon if anyone is interested... :D |
that's SO frustrating - I had it happen to me with a couple of printers back when I was doing a ton of printing from the home - which is why I always bought at COMP USA cause they had a 2 year tap plan where you could 'trade up' - I went thru about 5 printers in the last 8 years - It could be the printer 'head' is clogged - Sometimes doing what Cindy (chattiesmom) said will work - other times you have to purchase a new printer head for the printer - that's the little unit that the ink sits in - That can run a bit of money but WILL work - |

I use Pixma CLI cartridges - if you have those I'll buy !! Edited to add - Breny - When I had an HP - the printer heads clogged frequently -- I hate to say it but HP seemed to have this issue which is why I switched to Canon - |
