Hot flashes! Ugh! I am dying right now! I have one of those chest type freezers and I swear if I wasn't so afraid the lid would close and I'd get trapped, I'd climb IN that thing! I can only stand bent over with my head down for it so long before the blood rushes to my head and I get dizzy and have to stand right side up again. |
:eyetearss .... that's quite a visual. LOL |
LOL! That's what I have to do though. The freezer on the fridge isn't cold enough. I didn't even think about the visual I was creating when I typed that. LOL Sorry everyone! :p |
LOL, this is a bad time of year to get hot flashes and it only gets worse. Imagine getting hot flashes when it's 100 outside this summer. |
I remember those well! Hell on earth I think I called it.:p My heart goes out to you. I was at a party years ago when one of the women got a hot flash. She took her shoes off and went out side for a walk in the snow! I was hysterical then it was my turn and I fully understood where she was coming from. |
Why don't you get on hormone replacement therapy? |

I began my change in 2001 when I had surgery for OVCA and I swear I am still going through hot flashes. They aren't as frequent, but darn they always happen at the most inopportune times. LOL |
Oh, I can really sympathize!!! My husband is always cold and of course I am always hot. It is always a struggle. Can't wait 'til these are gone. Think of them as "power surges"! LOL |
Been there, still there. lol. I can't take HRT due to having had breast cancer, but I'm on a homeopathic one. Works quite well, does give some relief. People always want to know why I'm never cold:rolleyes: Sheilagh |
Oh, I know alll about this and I'm only 22! My mom is CONSTANTLY standing with her head in the freezer. I don't even think its weird any more... its normal! lol ;) |
I have them too and they SUCK:( The only thing that seems to work for me is to take some ice cubes, put them in a baggie and put that on the back of my neck;) Better than sticking your head in the freezer:laugh: |

It wasn't too bad and with all the recent reports regarding HRT... I know it was the right decision for me. |
When I used to work in the school cafeteria, I was always more than ready to go in the freezer for something, and there were days I wish I would have gotten locked in..:( I had some stuff I was using (can't remember the name of it), and it worked really good, but, then I quit taking it, and when I started up again with it, it wouldn't work...I just turned 51 in Dec. and I'm finally getting better, but, at night, I'm freezing when I get in bed, then I start burning up(only sleep with undies on, as I can't stand having anything on me), and I turn the ceiling fan on, and by morning, I have taken all the covers from my poor hubby..Isn't life grand??? NOT! |

Boy, can I relate to that!! I did start taking Estroven and it has helped a lot. I am still hot, but not the severe swings I had before. |
I feel your pain!!! Sometimes i just go stand outside when it is 20 degrees, it feels soooo good. I have had them for 4 years, my husband can't tolerate cold so he keeps the house at 78 degrees and sleeps in the den with a heeter on. I sleep in summer pjs and have a fan going all night. The doctor put me on antidepressents and they helped a lit with the severity of the flashes. Do they ever stop? |

Don't you love it when you are at work, waiting on a customer (male, of course) and one hits you? So, what does he do? He brings it to your attention, just in case you hadn't noticed your hot, beet red face, drenched clothes and the puddle of sweat you are now standing in! Happens to me way too many times. :D |
Yes, the sweating is the worst part about it! Especially here on the coast where it is so humid. Some days I have it dripping off my ear lobes!! How embarrassing! |

I'm 40, so not quite (yet) at hot flash stage - but I still suffer PMS - and I had tried EVERYthing. Anywho, I finally found this company called Oona - and I was like "fine, I'll try it" and it actually helped (I use their PMS 1 Formula). They also make a Menopause Formula that might be worth a shot: http://www.oonausa.com/ I know you don't eat meat - so I'm not sure how you'd feel about using HRT therapy and the whole horse/animal cruelty thing - so the Oona might be an alternative for you (and def. healthier too). :) |
