Vacation expenses We are going to Disney the end of next month and I'm not sure how much to take down there. Our room, tickets, and dining are paid for. Anything we need to buy down there is sort of an extra. Our son is 13 months so he isn't into the gimme gimme stage so that will help not overbuying souveniers. We just need for the trip down and back, we will be driving. So food both trips, gas, and hotel. |
I can't really give you advice but I hope y'all have a wonderful time. |
I tend to take more than I ever expect to spend. Driving from Indiana....now sure of the distance but plan on filling up whatever you're driving....at least twice I would think. On the hotel I assume you mean staying 1 night somewhere along the way? I think you'd probably find something decent in the $70 range if not under that. You may find something with a free continental breakfast...that'll eliminate finding something to eat in the morning. On car trips we tend to snack alot...I'd buy snacks at home and just carry them in the car. Lunch I think you could skip or do cheaply on the road. I've actually packed stuff for lunch and eaten at rest stops. Dinner - $30 bucks or less depending on what you prefer to eat...can certainly be cheaper than that. So guessing with the above...I'd say...200 bucks for the trip down (that's 100 bucks worth of gas, 70 for your room, and 30 bucks for dinner). A disney tip...or any theme park for that matter....they will give you FREE water at any drink stand. They're required too. Don't simply say you want a water...they'll sell you one for 3 bucks. Tell them you want a cup of water. Have fun!! |
I like to have alot of money for souvenirs when I go to Epcot. I really dont buy anything for Myself anywhere else but we always get my daughter things. I dont know about gas because we have not driven. I think my Husband budgeted us in for $60 a day for souvenirs last year. I dont think we used that much though. I do know I spent about $200 at Epcot |
Generally, we (myself, hubby, 7yo daughter) budget $125 per day for souveniers AND food. (Have not done the dining plan yet.) That gets it done without really skimping on anything. |
Okay! Good! We figured out about what you guys were thinking too. We thought $1,000 would work to take. We will be at Disney 3 days/nights. We figured about $100 a day for souveniers. :) |
Ok I have another question.....we bought 2 day hoppers and we are going to MK one day and we know MGM for at least a short time (dinner reservations) but we werent sure where we want to spend the morning at for that day, should we do Animal Kingdom or Epcot with a 13 month old? |
Definitely Animal Kingdom. They have alot of great shows and the animals. They have alot more for kids there. Epcot I think of as more of an adult park. |

Youll have a good time. This year when we go to epcot wee are leaving My 7 yr old daughter with grandma for the day. She only rides Soarin. She likes to shop so we may take her there for that for a couple of hrs. We really enjoy our time at Epcot |

Oh I cant even imagine how hot it was in august. We always go in October except this year we are als going a week in December. The only other time Ive been down there was in March our first time going there |

I would choose AK over Epcot for a kid too. In regards to MGM, most of the shows end early...so check the times to make sure you aren't there at night with everything closed. |
I am not certain yet. We just decided not to go two weeks in Octber and instead to go 1 week in October and 1 week in December. We have reservations for the Pop in October. We have been wanting to stay at the Beach Club or the Yacht Club so we will probably stay there. |

We went 2 summers ago in July with our then 12 & 9 year olds, we were there for 8 days and went to one of the parks every day we were there for most of the morning and day. We were exhausted at the end of the week, we knew we would be, so we had planned an extra week after the Disney trip to go straight to Clear Water Beach for a week to really relax. One week for the kids and one week for Mom and Dad. It was sooo hot, I lost 7 lbs. while I was there, I guess from the heat and walking all day too. I gave up on the wearing makeup, thank god I had a tan, LOL, just melted off. I would rather have heat than cold, so I really didn't mind the high temperatures. The water themed parks were fabulous, my boys could have spent every day at those. Of course with a 13 month old not sure if he/she would enjoy it. There were lots of slides, but they had lazy rivers too which you could have your toddler ride on tube with you in that. Like everyone said taking extra cash is best, you never know what you may find there. Plus I always relax better not having to worry if I brought enough. Have a fun and safe trip! |
I just asked my Husband and he said we spent a little over a hundred dollars a day for souviners.. Also he sad to remind you this year the dining plan doesnt cover tips (which sucks) so you have to take money for that |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Playhouse Disney is an early shows only attraction. Same with everything in the Backlot Tour area and the Beauty and the Beast stage show. Chachi...are you going for a MNSSHP in Oct? |

http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/index.htm Go to the top where the colored tabs are and select the park...scroll down and find the show times. Now if this link sucks, don't blame me...I got it from someone else. |
