Does anyone own a Blackberry Pearl?
 

I just got one Friday, and I have been downloading free themes on it. There is a nice yorkie one someone made if you are interested, I can post the link on here! :)

Anyway...its taken me HOURS to learn it online. It didnt come with a guide, because I bought it used off craigslist. My Razr was about to die for the second time and I wasnt going to pay for another piece of junk! My contract isnt up with AT&T til Sept.

YES i sure would!:thumbup: YOU HAVE to have a blackberry data plan with it (gets costly), or its a plain old regular cellphone.

So, can you browse the internet with the blackberry? Like, I could be at work and look at yt at the same time :D

My blackberry data plan is $30 a month IN ADDITION to your calling plan. But it includes everything, and if you are a text person like I was, think of it this way...my unlim text and pic messaging was $20 extra. So data plan isnt that bad for what you can do with it. I sync it to my computer and use my planner...every time I add a plan on my calendar on my phone, it copied to my computer and vicw versa. I do all my yt talk on the phone, use myspace from it, view sites, have my radio and headphones...list goes on and on. I use my phone business and personal nonstop and had the chance to use the Iphone too. Personally, I love my blackberry way more. I go through AT&T. My pearl is red...and to the person who wanted pink...GOOD news...it just hit the market!! ;) By the way, I loved the yorkie theme!! Thankyou!

yes....like I said its costly.. its basically mobile internet and texting..all unlimited.

Cell phone companies bite you in the butt with their rates, I cant even imagine what they make in revenue. :eek:

You are very welcome for the yorkie theme! There are good ones on that site, and if you want anything specific, someone will make it for you. I also installed an app to change the color of the trackball.

Question - I emailed the company, I can get internet access on the phone for $30, dont have to have the text messaging (have never done that in my life, wouldnt even know how).
Question is can I access internet anywhere I am? Like at work? I dont have to be say at a wireless hotspot or something? and is the access decently fast or terribly slow?

Yea that's an unlimited data access plan? I pay 30 also and I can use the internet, emails etc. All unlimited, you can use it anywhere and don't need to be near a hotspot or wifi etc. The access is good, I use Opera mini on mine. I also have Google maps installed on my Blackberry since my curve has GPS.

I LOVE my pearl, I don't think I could live without it LOL!

You can get internet almost anywhere, doesn't need to be a hotspot or anything. I LOVE getting my e-mail at any second and can look up anything you want in just seconds. The only thing is my husband gets jealous cause I am always on it. :p

Totally recommend it, oh, and get the pink one- I love it!!

Have you guys tried the built in blackberry messenger yet? it's like the txting client built in the BB that allows you to add other people who have blackberry based on their phone's pin number. You can type/send files/camera phone pics etc, and you don't get charged by text, it's free to use but you can only add other people who have blackberry's on them lol

I also have the red curve - LOVE it!!! Hubby gave it to me for Christmas:) I was set on the pearl til I got to the store and looked at it in person - was just too small for me and I like the bigger keyboard on the curve. Still trying to figure it all out. If you are in to calenders, reminders, internet "on the go", text, etc., I highly recommend it!

Programs I'd recommend getting for the Curve that are awesome:

Gtalk - (if you use Gtalk/chat to talk to your gmail contacts etc. it rocks!)
GoogleMaps- (at&t charged you 10$ a month for their GPS software, but if you download googlemaps on your curve, it's free to use, because it's free to use the GPS, At&t just wants to charge you for the telenav service)
Opera Mini - Let's you browse full websites and zoom in etc.etc. It also loads much faster than the built in browser
BBsmart HTML: This allows you to view you BB emails in HTML, meaning you can view pictures that were attached inside the email etc.etc. There's also Empower HTML that does the same.
Facebook: Facebook app for the BB, I always just respond/poke/etc from my phone lol.
GoogleSync/calendar: I never use outlook or any of that stuff, I always just use googlecalendar, and I sync it up to my BB.
Iskoot: If you use SKYPE to call long distance (like I do, boyfriends in Ireland) ISkoot let's you make really cheap long distance calls (at the cost of a local call!!)


Alot of this stuff you can get at Crackberry.com, as well as themes etc.
But these are my favorite so far.

OH! and make sure to get the free entertainment pack from BPLAY, they send you a free game, a free ringtone and a free theme!

It's called Blackberry Messenger, it comes installed on the blackberry, you open it up and select add contact or add person or something like that lol, then just type up the persons pin number (the pin is like the blackberrys "username"! add me! or if you give me your pin I can add you and walk you through it :) I love to use it to send my Yorkie pics to people, since an MMS costs 1.25$ per picture sent I prefer using the BB messenger since it's free!

I have the blackberry curve 8310, I wanted the GPS on it since the 8320 doesn't have it, it has wifi, but I never use wifi and the GPS has saved me loads of times with googlemaps when I need directions etc. or I'm lost!
The pearl is cute too, but I prefer the full keyboard :)
