shattered my wrist today
 
This Morning I Was Walking Down The Drive Way And It Was A Glare Of Ice My Left Foot Went Out Of Me And I Put My Left Hand Out To Catch Me And My Wrist Bent All The Way Back It Instantly Shot Pain Up My Arm My Hubby Took Me To The Hospital And They Wanted To Do Surgery I Told Them I Couldnt Right Then Because Of My Furbabys So They Set It For Now I Have To See A Surgen Tomorrow ,boy Does The Pain Hurt They Put Me On Vicoden.the Doctor Said I Have Bone Fragments In My Wrist ,please Pray That Its Not As Bad As The Er Doctor Says It Is.

OH MY! Im soooo sorry to hear that! I am praying its not as bad as they originally thought! Keep us posted when you see the surgeon tomorrow! (((HUGS))) to you!!!!

oh my gosh, how painful!!! I hope everything is ok!! please let us know how your appointment goes tomorrow!!!!

I'm so sorry about your wrist! I know how the pain can be. I had surgery on my left wrist a few years ago and still have problems. I had cortisone and lidocaine injection in November in the same wrist.

I sincerely hope it's not as bad as the ER doc says. If you do need surgery, I hope it's something that'll be simple and won't have lasting effects.

Oh, so sorry to hear this news. We will pray that everything will go well and that you heal quickly.

I am now a fanatic about putting Safe Paws down on the walkway, driveway and front porch after taking a very bad fall off the front porch last year. I even put it down when it rains because I am petrified that it will turn to ice.

You'll want to do the surgery. The healing time is much much faster and less painful. Good luck!!!! You'll be good rub some dirt on it :p

Oh no!!!!!! I am so sorry!!!!! I can feel your pain, truly I can! I shattered my leg just above my ankle -- emergency surgery! Do you have someone who can babysit your furbutts? You don't have much time as far as the surgery is concerned.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.....

Ouch !! I did that years ago and didn't have surgery - I had the doctor just set it and I've had problems with that wrist my whole life - better to get it over with if you have fragments - I did the cortizone etc and it never really helped - GOOD luck !!

my hubby can watch my babies ,they wont go outside to go potty for him they are always glued to me.

I am sooo sorry and hope your surgery goes well. I know that everyone has experience and advice. So here's mine. ;) My husband shattered his wrist a couple years ago. Ortho surgeon said it was a 9 1/2 on a scale of 10 being the worst possible break. The wrist is a very complicate joint.

So my advice to you is to be a fanatic about your rehab. Whatever they tell you to do, do twice that much. My husband was not expected to get any mobility back. And today, although still a bit weaker on that side, the only thing he can't really do is play guitar and take change. ;) He doesn't have complete supination to be able to lay his hand flat with palm up. But he has a very physical job and was able to go back to work. They told him it was only because of his determination (ala stubborness).

So I pray your surgeons have great skill and that you have great determination afterward. :)

the ER doctor said it was the worst he had seen in a long time so im guessing its pretty bad .and the stupid thing about it is i knew not to walk down the drive way because of the ice but i was in a hurry .our drive way is a hill .my babys are sticking to mommy they must know mommy is hurt because not once have they left my side .

I work for an Orthopedic Surgeon....I only hope your surgeon is 1/2 as good as mine and all will be ok! ;)

You poor thing. Don't delay in having the surgery or you could end up with permanent damage to the nerves etc. Please take care and keep us posted!

We have a steep driveway too. It always scares me. (Remember the days when a ice covered hill would have been irresistable to us as kids????) Sounds too much like my hubby's. But just know that you can and will be fine. Depending on your rehab, let me know, and I can give you a couple "home tips" we came up with for hubby. :)

Let those babies take care of you. When my hubby rehabbed, he was home for 3 months (because he has a physical job), and the dogs saved his sanity! :aimeeyork + :animal36 = :thumbup:

looks like I "m gonna wear nothing but sweat pants for awhile my hubby helped me put my socks on and he did dishes for me and vacumed for me today .

Oh No! You poor girl! I'm so sorry you fell and hurt your wrist so bad! Darn ice! I will pray for you...for all go go well and for you to have a speedy recovery...and for the good Lord to please lessen your pain. *HUG*

What a terrible thing to have happen and I do hope you get a really good surgeon. Maybe someone will spring for maid service for you, this way you and hubby can have quality time together while your on the mend. Good luck with everything.

OH NO!!! I wish you a quick and painless surgery and a speedy recovery!!!

I broked my wrist in four places many years ago....it is very painful.
