My mom was like that with me. She wouldn't let me sleep at a friend's house unless she knew them really well and every member of the family, and has been there herself. I used to stay at my friend's house a lot but it was just her and her single mom so she trusted it.

I am so sorry to hear this. I will pray for your son and hope he heals emotionally.

It is sad when you cannot trust people you think you know so well.

I am so sorry to hear this ,my parents hardly let me stay at a friends house because of things like that my parents didnt trust to many people ,glad to hear you got help for your son ,sending prayers for your family.

Yes, they do. You know, I am often at odds with myself about being overprotective of my daughter who cannot talk and tell me things. I must depend (at least part-time) on caregivers to help me in our home with her. Then, I hear another story like this one. I am not paranoid, and must continue to be ever-aware.

Thanks Patti.. its been a hard road especially when there are children involved as in your daughters case. Both the victim and offender were children and its really hard sometimes to keep this all in perspective. We found out that the abuser has being abuse by an adult for many years and this was a really good friend of mine's son. I am so heartbroken for all the damage. I don't know what the laws are like in the US but here in Canada there isn't any legal option unless the abuser is over 12. Although there are a few counts of abuse since he turned 12, we really feel that he needs counseling and support, more that punishment, to get this behind him.

I pray that things go well for your family and thatnk you for th offer to PM you. Same goes the other way

For sure.. I don't want to scare people but I really thought it was okay for same sex children to sleep in the same room for a sleepover. My views have changed so much after this.. just keep being aware and always be checking!
