Hi - my name is ada, and I am a yorkie addict. LOL

I'll be 56 this month; and in June, will see the 36th wedding anniversary to the most wonderful man. We share one daughter, who teaches us about unconditional love and patience :). See family page, here.

We don't get out much; but, when we do, we enjoy geocaching.

I had a little web design business; but that went by the wayside when I had open heart surgery last spring. Plus, the field is extremely competitive - hard to stay current on things. But, it's something I love.

We've been 'owned' by Abigail-Ceana for two years. I'd wanted a Yorkie all my life, and finally decided I wasn't getting any younger...so I just did it! She's been such a blessing to our family! We also share our lives with our buddy, Mr. Mozart - a 13y/o mix (shi-tzu/maltese/silky), who lets Abigail think she's top dog ;).

WOW, I am loving this thread. What a wonderful variety of people on here. I noticed there are a few scrapbook nuts like myself on here and photography people. I just recently bought myself the new Canon Digital SLR and I don't have a clue how to use it so if any of you professionals have some tips by all means send them my way. LOL

Hi All: My name is Nedda, I'm 53 years old and I live in Rockland County, New York, approximately 45 minutes north of Manhattan. I've been married 33 years tomorrow (Jan. 19th) to a wonderful man. I have 2 great sons, 32 and 28 years old (who are not married :( ).

I am an Executive Assistant to the CEO of an agency that serves people with Mental and Development Disabilities, providing homes and services as needed.

About 3 years ago, I was looking at internet sites, searching for a small Chihuahua to bring into the family. In my search, I came across a site selling a litter of Yorkies, I saw this sweet little girl for sale (until then, I knew nothing about Yorkies) I looked at that cute little face and called the breeder immediately. I met her the next day and she's had me in her spell ever since. I now have 3 Yorkies, 2 girls and 1 boy.

My name is Charlene. I live just outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia and married my high school sweetheart almost 24 years ago. He is a sailor in the Canadian Navy. I have a son 20 who is in his third year at Dalhousie University and a daughter 18 just finishing high school.

I am the director of a nursery school with 90 children enrolled including several having special needs. I am passionate about inclusion.

My Ziggy was a birthday gift last March after two years of researching different breeds of dogs (I don't jump into decisions LOL). He was suposed to reach 7 pounds like his dad but is somewhere around 13-14 pounds right now. I wouldn't trade him for anything.

I do a lot of community volunteer work including organizing the annual Canada Day parade and fireworks..oh and I play flute or piccolo in the marching band.

Gee....do you think I like to talk about myself?????

MeganS 01-18-2008 05:52 PM

This is an awesome thread. Its so interesting to see what everyone enjoys. A lot of you are talented with artistic things, I see. That's SO wonderful. I've always wished that I could draw/do pottery/and things like that, with my hands. What awesome talents!

Hmm well. I'm Megan, and I'm 14 (I'll be 15 on April 8th). I just moved to Spotswood, NJ from my hometown of Milltown, NJ (in Central New Jersey). I'm a freshman in high school, and I'm loving it, even though its really hard at times.

I love all kinds of animals and I always have. I rode horses for about 8 years, unfortunatly some other interests got in the way - it got too expensive and I had to make a tough decision to stop riding. :( But I became very good friends with the family that owns the farm I rode at, and from time to time I still go there to help out with any groups they have coming in, which usually gets me a free ride. :)

My true love is singing and acting. Broadway is my passion, and it is so inspiring and wonderful to me. I take voice lessons, and I go to an acting high school, and my life goal/dream is to go to Mason Gross, move to New York, and become a performer on Broadway. I love everything about theatre, and its very special to me.

I am TOTALLY obsessed with Ireland, and I would die to go there. My mom wants to go there too, to do family history, so I'm hoping for a family trip sometime in my life. I can look at pictures of Ireland for hours. <3

I also have a 17 year old brother, Kevin, who I actually get along pretty well with. We have our moments, but compared to most siblings, we are angels haha.

and I'm LDS (Mormon). I love my Church and the people in it are like family to me.

and I guess that's it. This is embarrassingly long. :p

Gracie2006 01-18-2008 06:11 PM

I am single. My big hobby and second profession is genealogy. I also love anything to do with computers, web site design, etc. I also love home decorating, but with 4 cats and 2 dogs, why bother? Ha ha Ha

ginalynn 01-18-2008 06:33 PM

I love this thread, I love hearing about everyone. I am not as interesting as all the other people on here.

My name is Regina, everyone calls me Gina. I live in Prestonsburg Ky. I like it here in the country. I really don't like it too much when its cold during the winter. I have lived here all my life. I am married, his name is Shane. We have been married for almost 11 yrs. We meet right after I got out of high school and dated for 3 yrs before he ask me to marry him. He is disabled, he was born with a disease called Spinalcerebullar degeneration, which is very rare. I knew he was sick before we got married and it did not bother me I loved him no matter what. I don't work I stay home to take care of Shane the best that I can because in Oct. of 2000 I had a really bad car wreck which left me disabled, so we take care of each other the best that we can. Shane now has a electric wheelchair which makes it so much easier on him and me. We still live a normal, happy life considering the bad things. Anyway, we like watching movies, talking strolls down the road. I enjoy scrapbooking in my spare time, and staying on the computer a lot. In Sept. of 2007 we bought our first Yorkie, his name is Otis, he has brought so much joy to our life. We have other dogs which we love but there is just something about Otis that is special. After researching the breed for months we decided to try and buy one and finally found him. He keeps us busy for the most part of our days. We cannot have skin kids so my furbabies will have to do..So, sorry if I shared too much info with you, I am not too good at talking about myself......

I'm Joanne, 55 yrs. young, from KS, about 50 minutes northeast of Wichita, KS. Married 35 yrs. to a man who puts up with my doggie fetish. Husband owns his own business. Empty nesters. Three adult children 33 yrs. to 22 yrs. Have become like my Canadian mother in my old age and adore God's little creatures. Have three Yorkies, two rescue female seniors, Rosie, 5 lbs. (scared of everything) and Cocoa, 3.5 lbs. (mentally challenged), a 1 yr. old male, Chipper, 4.5 lbs. and a 7 mo. old male rescue pommie, Snowboy, 6.6 lbs. Have our daughter's part Himalayan kitty---a temperamental beauty---until she gets out of pharmacy school in 3 yrs. :( Going to specialize in cancer drugs, therefore has to do an internship. Major drain on finances,:( but DH insists that our kids get degrees w/o debt. Work as a para at local elementary school---enjoy 4th/5th graders. Considering the pay, wouldn't do it if didn't enjoy it. Never considered myself a patient person, but God has given me a special love for the disadvantaged. Love the kids and am blessed to be loved by them. Have a terrific supervisor. Never a dull moment. Enjoy cooking so involved in that aspect at church---Wed. night meals and weddings. Come from a very conservative religious background. Leaving it caused great stress to my family.:( Stayed away from faith for many years but have found it again but in a less legalistic way. Love scrapbooking and want to start making my own cards. Forgot the cockatiel, Duchess, 13 yrs., given to us by some missionaries before they went overseas. Think I'll save this thread somewhere so I can refer back to it.:)

Hi everyone! This is great!

My name is Elizabeth...but most people call me Liz (because Elizabeth can be hard to pronounce....especially when i'm trying to introduce myself when I'm nervous....Lithabth is what usually comes out!)

I am 28 going on 29 on April 27th and have been married 1 1/2 years to the ony guy I've ever dated. We've been together almost 11 years! My husband is my best friend! He is an assistant manager and waiter at an upscale restaurant in our city.

Tia is our "first child" and our parents have come to accept that this is all they're getting in terms of a grandchild (for now!) Therefore Tia is spoiled with attention from all fronts.

I teach music, English and Religion in a catholic school to grades 7 and 8.

I live in Nepean (Ottawa, really...nation's capital!) in Ontario Canada. I commute about 45 minutes minimum to 1 hr 15 minutes each way to and from work. I also play the organ at my church 2 nights per week for memorial masses. I am an accompanist for a wedding singer and have seen all kinds of wedding ceremonies. I also continue a part time job I've had since high shool at an upscale shoe store.

I used to accompany a children's choir, and I used to play the flute in the adult choir at my church. i used to teach piano to young children as well. I stopped all of this because I found myself spread too thin in life.

I love hiking and travelling....went to Jamaica on my honeymoon, spent 1 month this summer in Italy at a house my dad owns there (and toured around too) and just got back from Cancun.

I'll lurk on YT a lot more than I post....I love seeing pictures and reading questions, advice given and support offered. You guys rock!

My husband and I were childhood sweet hearts and have never dated any one else...Married 26 years.:p

Okay, I'll go. My name is Nikki, I just turned 35 and I've been married for 14 years to my wonderful hubby Troy. We have an amazing 13 year old daughter named Lauren. I love the beach and anything water related. My husband has been learning to sail so we are thinking of selling our boat and getting a sailboat so I guess learning to sail is next for me. I am a stay at home mom and I guess one of my biggest hobbies is taking classes, starting new ventures and then getting bored with it.:p Silly but I'm fortunate that I can do that. I was certified as an etiquette consultant by the Protocol School of Washington (Liv Tyler's grandma is the owner and my teacher so that was kind of neat). Never really did anything with it though other than buy some really cute business suits and beautiful business stationary then decided I didn't really want to do that. Next I had a handmade soap company called Beachbubbles Soap Co. I did that for about 3 years and I really had a lot of fun with it. After that I went to school to get my esthetician's licence and I did work for a little while. I wasn't really used to having a boss and rules and all that goes with having a job and my family was used to me being home so now I do keep my license up but I'm not using it. Now I want to do a certification course in herbal medicine. I'm also going to take a sewing class next month. I'm a huge bookworm- my current obsession is world religions. So, there's my scatterbrained life.:p

I'm looking into sewing class also. I can make stuff up but I have no idea how to follow a pattern!!!!

I'm totally and completly addicted to photography and was even able to do four weddings last year! SOOOO MUCH FUN! Anyway, I help my husband run his commercial construction company. He tends to be on the road a few months out of the year and my little Tucker has been a great comfort to me:D I love it here on YT and I really hope when can get the meet-up going in the south cause I'm dying to meet all the great people I talk to everyday!

Hi!
It is great seeing all the different interests and the similar ones!!

I am 45 yrs old, 5'7" tall, a "bottle blonde", and just got my LONG hair cut short! (but it feels great and I like it!!!)
I have 2 Yorkies. Shelby will be 4 years in March. Seymour will be 4 years in October.
I enjoy YT and surfing the web (usually for Yorkie info).
I enjoy scrapbooking, but rarely have time to do it...... or I guess I should say that I don't make the time.
We love to go camping...... weekend warriors.
Amusement Parks are a favorite of everyone in our family. Cedar Point is our favorite one.
I work full time.... it is a good job, but I wish I did something that I enjoyed more. I have 6 more years before I can retire with benefits..... so I need to hang in there if I can!!! :(
Our children are grown (and married) and we have 6 Grandchildren.

Hello. My name is Jeanette and I live in East Tennessee. I worked in the secretarial field for 48 years and am a Certified Professional Secretary. I retired two years ago. I have been divorced for almost 30 years and have two grown sons and one beautiful granddaughter. My granddaughter has a Yorkie, and that's why I joined Yorkietalk. The best way to learn about a breed is to talk to people who live with them. I have always been an animal lover. I have two Bichons, Lacy, ten, and Cosmo, nine, and a little Chihuahua rescue, Kozanna, ten months. I have a mischevious little six-year-old albino ferret named Cali Rose, and a gorgeous red male Betta fish named The Red Baron. Lacy, my female Bichon, is my best friend and the sweetest companion ever. My male Bichon, Cosmo, is a therapy dog and we visit the Children's Library twice a week. Cosmo loves the kids and he has a huge fan club. Cosmo is a real gentleman. Kozanna is a rescue and she is just learning how to be a well-loved puppy. I make greeting cards with pictures of my dogs and my flowers on them. I have several web pages that I maintain. I like to cook and grow flowers. I am an avid reader, am learning to crochet, and like to write children's stories. My sister, who plays a guitar, and I sing together and we do programs now and then at the library and senior center. I am a Christian and try to be a blessing to others. My faith and my family are the most important things in my life, and my family includes my furkids.

Brookef18 01-19-2008 05:29 AM

Thanks every one for writing back! I love hearing about you and who you are... It's funny how we can all talk to each other every day and really not know anything about each other, other then we all have yorkies.... I love having people i can share my yorkie stories with and I learn so much here...:D

MiLeighsMoM 01-19-2008 07:16 AM

Hi all, I just wanted to comment first on this. I am (was) a Med Tech too. Where do you live Laurie? I looked into working at the Hospital in Newberry, MI before I moved to MI. I was looking for work to be close to a friend who was very ill in Traverse City, thinking I could travel to TC once a week or so to visit my friend. Little did I realize what a commute like that would be. I was used to highways all over the place to get you there FAST!...LOL Oh well. The I found a job a little closer to TC. I worked at the Hospital in Kalkaska, MI for a few months before I had to go back on disablity. So, now onto the present...
I am 52 yrs young, have type 1 diabetes, fibromyalgia and chronic pain due to a herniated disc.
I am owned by 2 wonderful cats, Moshe 3 1/2 yrs old as is Ya'akov, they were litter mates; and my Yorkie William 1 yr, 1 month and 18 days.
I used to have a lot more hobbies than I currently have, x-stitching, needlepoint, photography, ceramics have all fallen off the map. I still love to read (mysteries are my favorite), crochet, work with clay, listen to music and sing along, I am addicted to the "Law & Order" show series', being on the computer (especially YT :D ), cooking and baking and probably a few others I can't think of at the moment (isn't it fun getting older?? ...NOT)
I am Jewish and I belong to a liberal Jewish congregation of about 55 families. I used to teach Sunday School, but it got to be too much for me physically. I loved the kids though, fabulously smart and full of love and compassion for others. I miss them.
I am single, have been for almost 8 yrs and I like it. No one else around to make me have to compromise anything! :p I can do what I want, when I want and where I want. That is bliss!
I am content with my life and my little family. :ghug:

yorkiesmiles 01-19-2008 04:09 PM

Hi! I love learning about our varied group of yorkietalkers!!

I am a Christian - pentecostal and love to be in church - love Christian music - but I'm not someone you want to hear sing :p .

I am rediscovering my exact interests - I just spent 18 years raising my daughter.Thyat was my number one job & I love being a mom. She's off to college 11 1/2 hrs away -- but up until this year, I spent every minute on the run as her mom. She danced 5-6 days a week and was on a competition dance team and also twirled the baton competitively, so on any given weekend we could be at a dance or baton competition somewhere across the Midwest. And 4 weekends a year at piano competitions. She also played the flute, was a 2-time state champion cheerleader and on a Bible Quiz team. For many years she also figure skated competitively and took vocal lessons. We were in a mother-daughter book club for about 6 yrs. So as she says, I ran hard for 18 years and now, I'm resting. ;)

I love planning events & parties - my daughter has long said that I missed my true calling and that I'm suppose to be a party planner. She always had the best birthday parties & that is one way I have expressed my creativity.

I have an educational background in family therapy and worked for a number of years in the field of adoption - counseling birth moms and also, conducting homestudies for perspective adoptive homes. I am a writer and photographer. I recently learned to shoot and edit professional video.

I am passionate about my daughter having a nearly free education at a top university. Last year, I made it almost a full-time job searching for scholarships that she could qualify for - she received over $12,000 in outside scholarships for her freshman yr - because of her efforts - (and the rest from her university-- we feel this was worth our time, even though she turned down several full-rides at other universities.) I loved all the scholarship searching and the process of selecting the best college for her. We visited 26 universities -- in the South, the East Coast & Chicago area.

I loved this process with her so much, I have thought about starting my own college consulting business. No one really does that around here, but I'm not sure people would pay for this type of consulting or counseling around here. I've even thought about how I could offer services to travel with students whose parents are too busy to take them to visit all the schools.

I love to travel, and don't mind driving. I think about moving from the cold Midwest. My daughter and my grandmother - who died almost 11 mths ago at 103 1/2 were what kept me here. But my parents live in Florida & my brother in Atlanta, so I think of moving South, but I don't know where.

I love to read - historical fiction, true stories, positive self-growth books. I love history and used to write a historical weekly newspaper column about homes, businesses and the people who impacted my city decades ago. I love old homes - mine is about 112! Just wish I was a fix-it girl

Since my daughter left, I have spent way toooooo much time on YT and the Internet  - the most creative things I've done lately is start a yorkie meetup group with Suzy and start a moms group. We call ourselves - SNAIL (Sending Notes and Items of Love) Moms -- we gather together and send care packages to our daughters. Each mom brings 7 of the same items - one for each girl. It is fun to see how creative the other moms are and see how they might choose something I wouldn't have thought of. Our girls all attended the same Christian school - although not necessarily graduated from there. All the girls chose an out of state school. We get together and pray for our daughters and each other and pass out the goodies and notes.

I used to raise and bred Bichons and Siamese cats. I no longer have Bichons, and am down to my female Siamese, who will be 15 in about 6 wks. I adopted my 2 yorkies when they were less than 1 1/2 yrs old - they have been with me for almost 5 yrs. I can't imagine ever living life without a yorkie :D

Today, I went to my first dog show (with Suzy :) ) - very interesting - so much going on at once, and so fun seeing so many different breeds of dogs

My name is Sandy and Im unmarried and have one furkid named chester. He is very handsome, he has the teddy bear face. I work at a hospital part time and I love road trips, the beach, and I love photography. I love doing traveling with chester, he is great in the car. I live outside tacoma wa, close to petsmart where people ask for a chester haircut from my groomer, great idea.

It's so nice to be able to get to know some of you a little!

I'm Dena... I live in OKC, OK - origionally from Houston, TX but an "Okie" since childhood.
I am a Christian and enjoy fellowship with our church family.
I am a recently divorced mother of five skinkids, ages 10, 12, 18, 19 and 22 and "Mimi" to one precious little baby boy who turned a year old on Christmas day.... joyfully, we are expecting a new granchild as well!!
I am an RN staff nurse of 14 years - on-floor cardio vascular recovery unit with a state of the art cardio care hospital.
Before deciding to persue my nursing career, I spent 8 years in the military as an Army MPO. (military police officer)
Currently, I am a furloving homebody since an auto accident back in March of '07 that has left me unable to work.
I share my world with two little fur-angels at the moment... (though we are in the process of greatly expanding our Yorkie counterpart family!!) and my home with my room-mate's furfaces as well.
My passion is photography, though I haven't had much time to be "out and about" since the accident.... so I enjoy photographing my children and fur-children here at home.
I deeply enjoy music of all types and feel like there is always some song out there, some lyric, some melody that I can so easily adapt into my life in the "here and now" or to lovingly cause an old memory to surface.... but I suppose that is true for everyone... and precisely what music is intended to do! lol
I have enjoyed, for the most part, my time here on YT and have discovered several treasured friendships as well as a wealth of resources and information!

Nice to "meet" you all!!! :)
