| I have a book I bought when I was diagnosed - PCOS, The hidden epidemic by Samuel Thatcher. It is quite a bit clinical, but a lot of good information. Chapters in there about trying to conceive. You might want to see if you can get it at your library.

| I have PCOS and I also have 2 kids! When we went for infertility treatments I was terrified that it wouldn't work! Women with PCOS produce eggs but they do not ovulate (they then become benign cysts). I was given shots to stimulate egg production and then had to take a shot that would force ovulation. It took about 4 months to get pregnant with my son and 2 months with my daughter. The one nurse told me that the drug I was taken was very successful for PCOS. (I'll also add this was 18 and 15 years ago...there have been great improvements made in infertility treatments since then!) Don't get discouraged. And don't feel like a failure because you have to go this route. Once that baby is placed in your arms you couldn't care less how you got there! Best of luck to you! Find and join a support group for PCOS it will help alot!

| So, I went to the Specialist last week, had my bloodwork done and was placed on ProVera for 10 days. I am day 5 of it and boy am I moody! Anyways he said by the end of 10 days I should have started my period. Then he said that I will have to take birth control to regulate my low levels of progesterone, but that when I am ready to have a baby he said he will try me on Clomid. But in addition I have to be on Metformin for my insulin levels, they are 3x the normal amount. Anyways, he said if I am lucky the metformin while getting my insulin back normal may be enough to start ovulating. Anyways, I will continue to be on 'period watch' LOL (after 2 years without it, I am not looking forward to it!) |

| I am going to take my Glucose test tomorrow at the lab. I had my blood work done and it all came back fine. What fine means I really do not know but that is what the paperwork said that came to my house. When I go get the glucose test done what should I be looking for? I am really thinking of calling the doctor and just asking her to put me on the Metformin since i am hearing such success stories about it regulating others.

| I used to call Provera "my monster pills" because I was nasty on them. The metformin should get you regulated, it did for me after about a month on them and for the fist time in years (not including on the pill) that I've had a period every month. Quote:

| My lab work came back "fine" too but was put on the metformin because of the other symptoms. Quote:
