Unexplained "Big Boom" This morning at nearly eleven o'clock, I heard something very loud and my house shook. It felt like something had run into my house! I went out my front door to see what in the heck was going on...just as my neighbor came out of her house to see what had run into her house. Then, my neighbor from across the street came out....she thought the same thing. Pepole were popping out all over the neighborhood, trying to figure out what it was. Well....it seems nobody knows. Some initially thought that it might be a sonic boom. The Navy at the base in a town about one and a half hours away said "Nope. Wasn't anything we did"...They say they saw nothing on their radar to explain it. They checked with other military places to see if they had anything...nope. It's really weird. They felt/heard it as far away as an hours drive. And nobody....nobody....knows what the heck it was. Have any of you had a similar experience....unexplained? |
what the heck? how weird. sorry i have no idea.. but glad no one was hurt!!!;) |
wow that sounds weird ,any news on what it could have been. |
hmm that's weird.. |
Nope no idea!! Sacry weird though. |
Very starnge |
I googled it to see if there was any news about it and here is another forum talking about it too. |
do the usually admit it if it was a sonic boom? we get them here to, it is loud thats for sure, but if there was something going on i dont think they would tell the general puplic right away. |

Girl, I feel for you, that makes such a damn mess, doesn't it.I now set a timer when I do that,or put them in a plastic bag and if you forget,no mess that way. They say the sonic boom was a NASA secret aircraft test flight. I didn't hear it here in Bakersfield. Quote:

That's really weird. I as well am glad no one got hurt! I hope you get an answer as to what it was! |
How fascinating! we would get the sonic boom from Concorde over the East coast of the UK (East Anglia) when i was a child living there, someone told me that they had to be so many miles out to sea before they could break the sound barrier. |

But back to the "boom"...... many years ago (I forget how many), there was a gas line explosion in a small town near where I lived and when I got to work (which is probably close to 100 miles away from that town) they all said they had felt it all the way over here! Never witnessed a sonic boom though. Have they actually determined that's what it was? I didn't read that other forum all the way through to see what they were saying. |

Having grown up living on military bases, I would have guessed a sonic boom. But if the military says no........weird. We had a huge boom here when the Box Factory blew up 2 blocks from my house in the middle of the nite. Unbelievably loud and the house shook like an earthquake was happening. My dtr's room was glowing orange from the fire (her window faced the flames). We couldn't get within a block of it because of the heat. But, back to the boom, I hope someone figures out what it was. UFO, maybe;) . |
We use to hear the booms quite often when I was little. Back then we were told it was the sound of a jet breaking the sound barrier. We lived near an Air Force base. |
That is weird! Ive never had that happen! |

We get sonic boom here very often and still gets me everytime:( |
We live only a couple of miles from Vandenberg AFB, and even though it isn't a test base like Edwards, we got some sonic booms a few months ago. I doubt seriously it was any UFO :D simply because they don't seem to use that type of friction when moving so quickly. They move quickly and quietly. |
We had this happen about a month ago, I too though someone ran into our house it scared the crap out of all of us. And we went outside and everyone around us was standing outside too looking around. I still to this day don't know what it was, we dont have any air base around us or anything like that:confused::confused: |

I do find it amazing that there was such an event that is seemingly going to go unexplained.... and that makes me suspect military activity that will not be revealed to the public. |
I have never heard a sonic boom either. It would probably scare me to death if I did! |
