They do get very light in time, so much that you dont really see them...just feel them |
Have you tried Mederma? It's for scars and is very effective, especially for recent scarring. There is a generic, but I don't know if it works as well. The price varies, but Walmart probably has it chepaest, around $12 for a small tube. You could buy the small one to see if it helps at all. |
When I was pregnant...many many years ago...I kept olive oil on my tummy, sides, thighs..you name it....I used it from the get go (I mean, pretty much as soon as I knew)...I think it helped. Course, it is great for your skin anyway (and dry hair)...... |
I used something called "Mother's Friend" through all three of my pregnancies and never got stretchmarks. I didn't gain alot of weight though. But, it really does work good and is reasonably priced. |
Unfortunately there is nothing that will get rid of them. My daughter is 29 yrs old and did a number on my body (belly, hips and upper thighs). Although they did fade they will NEVER go away. Your skin stretched to the point of almost tearing...I don't even know if there is a surgery that will get rid of them. I used cocoa butter and I didn't find it worked at all...I wish you luck Shana in finding something that really works.. |
When I was pregnant 18 years ago I used mothers friend every night all over my abdomen and I didn't get one stretch mark there, but I got them really bad on my hips and my upper thighs right under my butt (if I had only known that you could get stretch marks there too). I have tried a lot of things to fade them (coco butter, vit e, etc) and nothing but time has helped. They are barely noticable now. I started using Stri-vectin on my face for fine lines and just to look better and it works great. It was origonally for stretch marks and the manufacturer handed out sample to the employees and they used them on their face because they didn't know that it was for stretch marks and they all raved about how it helped their skin look younger and brighter. So I wonder if it works so well for the face if it really works on stretch marks, what it was intended for. It couldn't hurt to try. It is a little expensive but it lasts for a long time. I love it for my face...lots of my friends and family started using it after they seen the difference in me. If it doesn't work for your stretch marks you could always try it on your face too...you wont be disappointed there. |
Oh Shana! Throughout my pregnancy, I used "Palmer's Cocoa Butter" lotion about every night on my belly. I ended up getting a few marks on my thighs instead post birth...However, I left them alone and it's been 10 months now, and they've basically dissappeared..I think in time, they will fade.. You can but these "Vitamin E" capsules in the pharmacy and break it [with needle] and squeez it directly onto your marks. They are basically very mosturizing and should help the process.. Hope this helps hon. |
I just seen this one StriPeptin (sorry if someone already posted about it..I just seen it and didn't read thru the thread again.....) |
I used vitamin E and lotion.I had 5 kids and only have 1 stretch mark on the back of my right leg.I used lotion all over my body from begining to end of my pregnancys.I do belive it is in your genes also.My sisters do not have many either.I was lucky. |
