Any such thing as a stretch mark creme that works? I never had a stretch mark until I got pregnant and then I got literally hundreds of them :( (none of them on my belly which is weird) Does anyone know of any miracle cremes that actually work at fading stretch marks? Preferbly something that doesnt break the bank :) |
I heard cocoa butter helps with stretch marks. sorry i can't be of more help though. maybe someone else will know something! how's Tessa? |
im not sure about them disappearing forever, same thing happened with m 1st, and i'm sure is going to happen with this one too lol, but i've been using all the palmer's cocoa butter/creme and also the Mama Mio products i've heard good things about you might wan tto try them, they smell great! :) |

When I was preggo I tried everything and anything. Palmers, Biotherm (nice smell!), vitamin E...you name it, I tried it. I didnt get any stretch marks at all. I figure I should have because all the women in my family got them. Dermatologists will tell you that no cream or lotion will stop you from getting them, as genetics determine how many, if any at all, you will get. I guess I got lucky. My sisters tummy looks like a map (her words, not mine, lol). As far as I know, the only thing to get rid of them is surgery. If thats not the case, please tell me so I can pass the word on to my sister. |
I would try vitamin E oil! Im using it for acne scars and so far is lightening them up! |
my best friend got them on her legs when she was pregnant because she was holding water and was so swollen - vitamin e helped a little, but they told her the only way to really lighten them permanently was laser treatment |
Go with the vitamin E capsules. You can break them open and put it directly on it. You can't get rid of them but you will be able to lighten them up so you really have to look to see them. Remember right now they also look darker because your hormones are raging. The dr. had told me that the hormones after birth keeps them looking darker. |
Sorry to tell you as far as I've seen there is no cream that will take away stretch marks....if they're a pinkish color time will/may turn them to a silvery white where there less noticeable..... From what I understand it's all genetics, some peoples skin can take more stretch than others, the stretch mark is when the skin has reached it's stretching capacity..... |
Avon has 2 available. Re-fine Stretch Mark Smoother and Super Shape Anti-Cellulite & Stretch Mark Cream. I've used both of them. They work but you need to use them consistently and that's one thing I'm not good at. I don't think you can ever make them completely disappear but these definitely fade them. |
You know I just looked at a cream last night & saved it in fav places! I have no idea if it works or not but their website looks promising & it was featured on oprah! it's name is stripeptin. Tiff |
i always heard coco butter works. Also my bros girl used belly butter by burt's bees, works great. She doesn't have one stretch mark. The creams from the body shop are also good, the ones in the jars cause they're thicker |
I STILL have my stretch marks from my son a year later. :( I only got them on my stomach, but I got my fair share of them. I told my Dr. I got cream to rub on them and he kinda laughed at me and said don't waste your time or money, they don't work. So I dunno. |
I've heard basically the same thing, that they can be lightened, but they don't go away :(. I have some just from gaining weight that I **wish** I could get rid of. |
stri-vectin |
They do get very light in time, so much that you dont really see them...just feel them |
Have you tried Mederma? It's for scars and is very effective, especially for recent scarring. There is a generic, but I don't know if it works as well. The price varies, but Walmart probably has it chepaest, around $12 for a small tube. You could buy the small one to see if it helps at all. |
When I was pregnant...many many years ago...I kept olive oil on my tummy, sides, thighs..you name it....I used it from the get go (I mean, pretty much as soon as I knew)...I think it helped. Course, it is great for your skin anyway (and dry hair)...... |
I used something called "Mother's Friend" through all three of my pregnancies and never got stretchmarks. I didn't gain alot of weight though. But, it really does work good and is reasonably priced. |
Unfortunately there is nothing that will get rid of them. My daughter is 29 yrs old and did a number on my body (belly, hips and upper thighs). Although they did fade they will NEVER go away. Your skin stretched to the point of almost tearing...I don't even know if there is a surgery that will get rid of them. I used cocoa butter and I didn't find it worked at all...I wish you luck Shana in finding something that really works.. |
When I was pregnant 18 years ago I used mothers friend every night all over my abdomen and I didn't get one stretch mark there, but I got them really bad on my hips and my upper thighs right under my butt (if I had only known that you could get stretch marks there too). I have tried a lot of things to fade them (coco butter, vit e, etc) and nothing but time has helped. They are barely noticable now. I started using Stri-vectin on my face for fine lines and just to look better and it works great. It was origonally for stretch marks and the manufacturer handed out sample to the employees and they used them on their face because they didn't know that it was for stretch marks and they all raved about how it helped their skin look younger and brighter. So I wonder if it works so well for the face if it really works on stretch marks, what it was intended for. It couldn't hurt to try. It is a little expensive but it lasts for a long time. I love it for my face...lots of my friends and family started using it after they seen the difference in me. If it doesn't work for your stretch marks you could always try it on your face too...you wont be disappointed there. |
Oh Shana! Throughout my pregnancy, I used "Palmer's Cocoa Butter" lotion about every night on my belly. I ended up getting a few marks on my thighs instead post birth...However, I left them alone and it's been 10 months now, and they've basically dissappeared..I think in time, they will fade.. You can but these "Vitamin E" capsules in the pharmacy and break it [with needle] and squeez it directly onto your marks. They are basically very mosturizing and should help the process.. Hope this helps hon. |
I just seen this one StriPeptin (sorry if someone already posted about it..I just seen it and didn't read thru the thread again.....) |
I used vitamin E and lotion.I had 5 kids and only have 1 stretch mark on the back of my right leg.I used lotion all over my body from begining to end of my pregnancys.I do belive it is in your genes also.My sisters do not have many either.I was lucky. |
