Bare Mineral Make-up... Does anyone use this or any other type of mineral make up? I've been really interested in it, but its expensive and I dont want to buy it without researching it. I noticed there are a few different brands. What do you think is best? How well does it cover? TIA!:D |
I have used it for years. (so have my daughters) It is a great make-up and I think it really looks natural. If you are a person that likes a heavier make-up, it is probably not for you. I think it covers well and stays on well. The mineral veil is very good to dust on over top and I think it kind of "seals" everything and makes its look fresh.I also use "warmth" to give me a little "sun-kissed" look. I think that you can buy it on QVC and they have a great return policy. You may want check with them. |
Is QVC the only way you can buy it? |

I've used this for about 2 years now, and I LOVE it! It's very natural looking and covers up very well. I bought the start up kit through the Bare Minerals website. When I was finished with that, I bought the larger ones at Ulta & Macy's for about $20-25 each. |
I also use i.d. http://www.sephora.com/brands/bare-e...ls/index.jhtml Great make up!! You can buy it on QVC, sephora, or at their own store. |

I use the i d bareMinerals. I have just had it for a little over a month now and I love it! You feel like you do not have make up on at all but your skin looks great! I also have had less break outs sense I started using it. I bought a start up kit at a Sephora store. They have ian online store too but I would recommend having them put it on you first, that way you can see what shade works best for your skin color. |
I love bare escentuals...This is awesome makeup!!! I've been using it for a year now and just love it! |
id Bare Minerals is fabulous makeup. I've used it for 7-8 years now. My 85 year old mom and 30 year old daughter use it. It is so light and I get compliments on my 56 year old, badly sun damaged skin all the time. One tip. I have large pores on my nose, so I put on the foundation with a makeup sponge (not damp, just dry). That trick seems to minimize the large pores on my nose. Then I use the brush to put on warmth. I think that warmth is absolutely the best. It just sets off your face. I hardly know anyone who doesn't like it - but if you can, maybe you should go to Ulta or Sephora and get an employee to make up your face and show you the products. If you can't do that, then you could order or buy from some place that you can return (like QVC). I think you will love it, but you are right, it is expensive (but it lasts FOREVER) so if you don't like it, you could return it. Just to reiterate, the makeup seems expensive, but you use just a tiny bit each day so it last a long long time. After the initial expense, it is really quite inexpensive. Do not use more than recommended or it will not look as good. You are supposed to look like you are not wearing makeup and if you use it correctly, that is the way you will look. Also, don't be afraid of the glimmery eyeshadow - I wear it and it is beautiful. Again, just a touch will do - oh and use bisque under the eyeshadow. You can also use bisque on any blemishes. But then again, you can also just use a dot of foundation directly on the blemish - it will completely cover it. |
I tried it about a year ago. I found the site online. probably just bareminerals.com or something like that. I was not happy with it myself. I do sell Mary Kay and have been relatively happy with those products but saw one of the 30 minute infomercials and thought I'd like to try it - it really seemed amazing. I know a lot of people are really happy with it but I guess I just didn't have good luck and I wound up returning it. Mary Kay is even coming out with their version of it and I'm interested in trying it as well but haven't yet. |
There is another thread going with the same info. You might try searching. I use it and I love it. It took awhile to get used to not having that cakey foundation on my face. |
We have a Bare Escentuals store in the mall and Ulta also carries it. If you go into one of the stores, they'll do a makeover on you and you can see what you think. I'm postive you'll walk out with a purchase! It's pretty amazing stuff! I wish the coverage just a little better though. I have so many freckles! |

I'm going to Sephora when I get paid to check it out. I called and they are going to actually apply it and help me figure out which color is best. I was wondering since I have dark circles, if I wear a regular liquid concealer under the BE, would it look funny??? |
I have used bare minerals for about 5 years now and I love it....there are alot of great suggestions already on this thread....I originally purchased mine from an infomercial on tv...and since then have found it on ebay... :D It is a bit pricey at first but does last a long time....alot longer than your foundation/blushes you get at the corner drug store.... |
I use BE product "Bisque" to conceal and "Well rested" for the dark circles around my eyes. There are a couple beauty shops/spas in my area which carry it also. |
there are many YTalkers who use it. we had another thread recently that you can search about bare minerals. I have used it over 2 yrs and I love it. Sephora has the start up kit for 60 bucks. you get 2 foundations, one warmth (kinda like a bronzer) and 3 brushes and the final step mineral veil oh and some sore of vitamin cream but that was too drying for me. it lasted me about 5 months. now i just buy individual containers when i need it. oh and the other thread i mentioned... there were sites for cheap makeup brushes too Here areBare mineral stores in IL Water Tower Place 835 N. Michigan Avenue Chicago, IL 60611 312.482.9747 Oakbrook Center 57 Oakbrook Center Oak Brook, IL 60523 630.573.2470 Woodfield Mall #K314 Woodfield Shopping Center Schaumburg, IL 60173 847.908.0731 They will do a complete makeover for you and color match you. You can try before you buy.. Hope you like it! |

Try the makeup sponge and see if it helps coverage. Try it dry and then try it wet and tell me how the wet works! |
I'm excited to try this stuff out!!:D |
I have it, i just bought it like 2 weeks ago. It's okay i guess. It's not the best cover up i dont think, i think i need to get a seperate concealer to get the job done. I still love my Laura Mercier make up better! :D |

I LOVE it from Merel Norman's....they will do a free make over and let you try it. There is a tinting cream you can get to go under it if you want extra coverage. Angie |
I love my bare minerals! I hope you like it as much as we do, I know you will! If you don't buy a kit that comes with the instructions DVD you can have mine, I have never opened it just pm me you address and I can get it to you asap. Good luck at sephora! |
My mom uses it... She got hers from walmart. about $12.88 She said she loves hers. and it does look very natural! |
I really like bare mineral is a great product and worth every penny last long time too, the only thing that the brush don't work for me they are to rough jmo, so I use instead the prescptives brush for the face and the Sephora professionnel for the blush and what a difference it make, there is a product called Mineral glow that I get from a lady (Santa Monica) and I truly like the face powder better:thumbup: |
I've been using i.d. bare minerals for about a year and a half. I really like it although I have to use heavy duty concealer (Dermablend) because I have some serious sun damage on my face. I use the kabuki brush and apply medium tan and then mineral veil after that. Sometimes I use clear radiance as blush. I think it works better for me because the powder doesn't settle in the fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes like liquid foundation. The SPF is a plus too. I started buying it from QVC but now l buy it from Sephora or Ultra. I think QVC sizes on the mineral veil and foundation powders are smaller than Sephora or Ulta. |
