heres an update ! 37 confirmed dead in London blasts At least 700 hurt, 45 seriously; |
2 Attachment(s) MY BEST FRIEND, Carly Hull, lives in central London (born and raised) and she is a nurse at St. Mary's hospital where all the injured are being taken! I cannot call her :( b/c I only have a cellphone and it is not international....but I am thinking of her and praying that she and her family and all of our other friends are ok! I have such a close relationship with Carly, and have visited her many times - enough to know most of her friends there in London personally, and this whole thing just hits so closely to home. I have such a big heart and tragedies like this just make me want to cry all day. What a world we live in that we give millions to cure cancer, yet people are out there killing innocent people!!!! I called my grandmother and asked her to use her landline phone and call Carly and make sure she's ok!!!! I wish I had a better way to get in touch with her. (Here are some photos of me and her, and some friends during our last visit to London.) |
Today it is a very sad day. My prayers go out to all the people in London and everyone affected. Im horrified that this keeps happening. After 9-11 our lives had changed. Today's terrorist attack is a remembrance that we need to be always alert cause this terrorists will do anything to destroy life. |
This really hits home for me because I have half my family living in London. I have 3 uncles and 13 cousins there. I have tried calling to see if everyone is ok and I dont get an answer so I am hoping that everything is ok. NO news is good news right?? |
I am sorry if I offended you brosie1823 in assuming it was Islam. I do a web site with an international christian ministry. The first thing I was told is that I see through American eyes and need to view everything through the world's eyes. Anywhere in the world where there is trouble, it is the same extremists. Be it in Sudan - they have killed a MILLION christians and the world turns it's eyes away from the killing & the refugees from this. Africa is a mess. You have Kosova, bombings in Bali, Australia, Israel, & the list goes on. They do it during rush hour or with 9-11 when everyone is at work to hurt the most civilian casualties as they can. Yes there are many Muslims who are appauled by this behavior. Unfortunately, if they would speak up they would be killed as well. I don't want this to be political. Don't want to start an argument. My heart goes out to all the innocent people who are hurt or lost their lives through this trajedy. |
I would just like to apologize. I am not trying to get political or start a fight. I just have my oppinions just as others do. Kristy, I repect your oppinion, I just happen to disagree. I have spent a lot of time looking at this war, and why we are in it. I personally believe in the cause, and have many family members and freinds over there fighting for it. We are not pushing stuff on these people, what is hardly ever shown on tv is how most of the people do want our help, and dont want our troops to leave. I am sure this point will be argued as well. However I know what my family and friends see, and we have recieved many gifts from families for being willing to help. I have the stories of many telling people we know how grateful they are for their willingness to help. They didnt want a dictator anymore than we do, and now the have much more peace than ever before. |
I just heard Copenhagen is at a standstill due to a suspect package. They were threatened yesterday already (they have troops in Iraq....). :( |
to go from the proud feelings of hosting the olympics to this is horrible, the timeing is suspicous....i couldnt help but think when i first heard about it "if New York had been chosen to host the olympics would we have been the ones that were hit" ....... unfortunatly terrorists are everywhere, they come from many different nationalities and it is sad that these extremists are thought of not as an individual but as a person from a particular religion or race, these people bring dishonor and shame to the people that are stereotyped along with them......... everyone has opinions, lets just remember to not overgenralize or stereotype people, especially in the wake of such events......... |

^^ I think Cacbeary wrote "appauled" and meant to type "appalled" and not "applaud." |
you know my hubby is in the army and he is going to iraq next year and i must say i am already scared....i hate president bush..to those who agree with what he's doing i'm sorry but to me it's not him running the show it;s his father!i feel and believe me alot of fellow armed forces feel that it;s totally personal with bush, because his father wasn;t able to stop sadaam in the golf war he felt he had to do it to show up everyone! i don't feel that our troops should be over there anymore, too many have died.bush has run out of exscuses to keep them over there and he knows it,while he was giving his speech last week, on the next channel another helicopter was shot down! and yet hhe's preaching to us about staying the course!exscuse me, but screw him! he is not the one out there dying while he is sipping his tea with his family safe and warm our family and friends are dying, and for what? so he can sit on his throne and put his nose up to sadaam. i'm so sorry guys but i just needed to vent, since bush has taken over our country has gone down the drain!i feel so bad for those who have died and their families, who feel that it was unneccassary for thier loved one to die :( bush sucks! that's all there is to it for me. i tell you i loved president clinton i so wish that he was still our president. to me who cares about what he did, bottom line was he was a great president and it's so sad that it went from him and the goodness he had to a egotistical idiot like bush :thumbdown |
So many wise posts in this thread - and so much fear, anger and sadness. I will never agree to any country going into another country to capture terrorists. Secure your country, work together with other nations in this matter, but do not force your cause upon them. It is now seen as terrorism by the peaceful people of Iraq :( In my book defending your country does not include going into another with an army. But right - let's not discuss it - we will never agree anyway... There is no black and white in this matter - and we are of course not told the whole truth by the governments - that's part of why most people are confused about the matter. And that's also why we can never agree on a perspective - we see the matter with our own angle. It is tragic and sad that some people feel so humiliated that they need to take up arms and kill other human being - be it the Al Qaeda, the americans, the danes or whatever - we should never have to kill other people as revenge or as a result of fear. I know Denmark is on the list since we officially support the invasion of Iraq (I guess you can guess my opinion on that matter) and all I can say is: I want my government to pull out and instead start a trading embargo on the countries that will not work together on terrorism. It is VERY difficult since we depend on - OIL - and that's why I feel my government is cowardly. Trading embargoes has worked before - they can again. EDIT: And by the way - would I give up my car for this because of the lack of oil? YES! |
