| To do or not to do: starting a business Ok so I have been thinking for some time now about starting my own business using my tallent for sewing and decorating. I have quite a few ideas for different dog things. Like for instance I have Recon who is a large dog, but I like when he looks handsome with cool collars and stuff like that and toys just aren't made to stand up to him. If I do find a toy that looks like it will hold up it costs way more than what I want to pay for one and I have heard this from many other large dog owners too. I also make collars for Preslee and Memphis as well as beds and all kinds of stuff. For my home I have made all my curtains, throw pillows and roman shades. I also made a really cool comforter for my bed with black satin and tan suede material. I made 2 large pillows to match the comforter too. SO I guess the reason taht I am posting is to ask others what they think. Should I venture on into this and see where it goes?? I also would like to ask those who do have thier own little businesses how they do? DO you guys make decent money?? Thanks for listening to me babble. ???? |

| Your mention of dog beds caught my attention. Have you noticed how expensive they are in the pet supply stores? If you could make some that are really nice quality I would think there would definatly be a market for them. And I'm always on the lookout for quality harnesses, bandanas, etc. And I have boy dogs. If I had a little girl she'd have a closet full!!

| I don't have my own business because I don't really sell anything. But, I do sell my services and that is always extra money on the side. I love doing it in my free-time from everything. Your talent sounds great and it's about time you start making money off of it! If you need help with a website, I'm sure I can help you. |

Love it! Love my doggie fashion job. I make enough that I quit my full time crappy office job and work from home . I actually make more than double what that stupid job paid. Its so fun too. You get to be your own "buyer". I just love buying fabric & trim....whatever. I love looking for new things too. If you think you could do it you should give it a try. If you got talent, you gotta use it! There are plenty of naked dogs out there

| I would think that if local pet stores would allow you to sell your product, you would probably do great.

| When you get older you will find that the only regrets you will have are over things you DIDN"T do, not things you have done and failed. What have you got to lose? What's the worst that could happen? By the way, I have a great idea for a doggie bed, actually it's not mine, I saw it at a friends. She takes shirts and stuffs the sleeves, sewing them together at the cuffs and shoulders. Then she puts a pillow form between the front and back and sews the top and bottom together attaching the sleeves. It's like the dog/cat is sleeping in someones arms. It is too cute for words and a great recycler for out of date shirts! I have arthritis so it's hard for me to do things like that anymore but I told her she could really sell them! Keep us posted we can be your test people!
