Omg! How old is she? I thought she was like 17 or something. Lol. I too hope she's a good mom. Where did you find this out?

My neice told me but I wasn't sure if it was just a rumor so I looked online.
She is on the cover of OK! magazine, with "I'm pregnant."

She is 16 and she did a interveiw with OK! Maganzine. She says she planes on raising the baby in her home town of Louisiana so it will have a normal life. She is 12 weeks along........

I just looked it up. Wow, 16. I for one think that she's already shown maturity by taking responsibility for her baby.

I hope she means that. Maybe it will get Britney thinking and she'll decide to join her there.

Geez....those Spears girls, I tell ya :rolleyes: It's so sad. I never even heard about this until now. Hope she takes better care of that child than Britney takes care of hers - hah, which is not at all :rolleyes:

I know she is not the first girl to get pregnant at 16 but I am seriously wondering what is wrong with her mother. She is LIVING with her 19 year old boyfriend.:eek: I could have written Brittany off as a fluke but with this news I think its pretty obvious where the problem originated.

Yea, I agree! What is wrong with the parents?!

This family can not get any trashier if they tried :( Their parents should be ashamed of their poor parenting and these poor babies should be taken and given to families who will actually be GOOD parents. :mad:

I dont think that the parents are to be blamed 100%. Yes I do agree that at 16 she should not be living with her 19 year old boyfriend, but at the same time I dont think that the parents of this girl or anyone ones parent should be blamed because you can raise your child the best way you know how( there are no such thing as a perfect parent) but ultimately that child is going to do what she wants to do. If she wants to have sex...and you dont allow her to have a boyfriend, I believe that she will find a way to have alone time with him and have sex. You can tell your child til your blue in the face...use a condom, that doesnt mean shes going to make him put one on. I feel bad for everyone involved in that family. Hopefully she will be a great mom (yes I do believe at 16 that is possible)

I agree with you in general and that's why I was never quick to blame the mother for Brittany. However, once you allow your 16 yr old to move in with her boyfriend, IMO you are announcing to the world loud and clear that you don't have a clue how to be a mother.

I read somewhere a quote form her mom saying that she was so shocked, since Jamie is always home by curfew. I don't think she lives with her BF...but I also read that she met him at church. What church are they going to?? LOL. Oh, and is anybody else wondering why this guy isn't being charged for having sexual relations with a minor or w/ statutory rape???? I mean he's 19 and she's only 16....shes on a children's show for craps sake. lol

I am not a parent myself and I agree with you to a certain degree. The kids have to take responsibility. But you know how come most good kids from good families stay out of this kind of trouble? It has nothing to do with parents just TALKING to their kids about this stuff, it's setting a strong family foundation and a good example. It's having family dinners, trips, game nights, family time out and just in general good old family time together. This builds that strong family foundation which makes the child a stronger and builds their confidence, therefore the talks are meaningful and not just nonsense.

you are right as far as letting her move in with her boyfriend but we dont know if what is behind that story. How can we know whether she ran away with him or was threating to, there could be so many things that happened. I just think its wrong for any of us to be judgemental because 1- we dont know the whole story and 2- who gives us the right to judge?

You're right that we don't know the whole story but that's what comes with being a parent and as a parent of a teenager myself, I am fully aware of that. If all of your children go wildly off path, your parenting skill are going to be questioned.

most "good" families?? you would be surprised how many "good families" have so many issues themselves.I came from a GREAT family and my mother was a GREAT mother...did that stop me from getting pregnant at 16? Nope it didnt...does that mean that I came from a bad family and my mother's parenting was bad? Nope it doesnt.

I hope I didn't come across as judgemental to all pregnant teenagers and certainly not to you. I was not a teen mom but trust me I was no angel. If it was JUST Jamie Lynn I wouldn't have even mentioned the mom at all, it's just combined with Brittany it does shine a spotlite on her parenting abilities.

No I dont feel you were judging me, I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just feel its wrong to say that if a girl comes out pregnant at 16 she came from a bad home (which you didnt say) I know this thread wasnt about me personally but I guess it hits close to home. My mother raised 2 girls and we both took totally different roads...shes the one who finished HS, didnt have kids at a young age and I took a different route...we were both raised by the same woman, so how would you explain that one? It goes back to my original comment about the child doing what they want to do regardless of what their parents do and say.

I live in Baton Rouge,Louisiana.....not too far from Kentwood. Brittney is a cousim related by marriage...I have never met her nor care to, but I have met her Mom and her sister. Her Mother was still teaching when Britt was getting " big " and I spoke to her about reading programs that would help my son and she was great taking her time to make sure I understood which programes she was talking about, we were at a fair and my other son was riding a ride with Jamie Lynn...they were about 7 or 8 years. At, that point she seemed just like al the other kids laughing and having fun. I know her Dad was a drug head, my step dad use to work with him, but I am not sure if he stopped, seems like I had herd he was off the drugs. I don't know what went so wrong here. It will be hard for her to raise this baby, but it can be done and it can be done well. I was married at 14, got preg 3 months after and had my son at 15. He is a honor student, always been involved in Beta, and every sport under the sun. He is 16 and holds a after school and weekend job as long as his grades are up. I sure did not have model parents, but I loved my son and knew as soon as I found out I was preg I wanted a way different life for him. So, this girl can raise a good child that can be a wonderful adult if she puts the baby first in everything. It's not ideal and I hate to see kids raising kids, it hits close to home w/me.

I def. don't think the parents are entirely to blame but something must have been going on there. It could have been cause her dad was a drug addict, who knows. But Britney seemed like a good girl until she got all famous, personally i think that Hollywood changed her. After she broke up with Justin she changed completely. The fact that Jamie is pregnant i think was just a mistake and mistakes happen. I do think that she is more mature than Britney and won't be the same as she is but who knows since Britney seemed like a very innocent girl at her age, well not entirely innocent but you know what i mean. I think it's good that Jamie Lynn's choosing to raise the kid in Louisiana and not in Hollywood like her sis. And she is making a smart and responsible decision by keeping the baby.

I too had my daughter three week before I turned 16. Though I don't recommend it as a way to go (I lost my teenage years), I did what I had to do, finished my senior year graduating with honors and she walked down with me to get my diploma. I was the first student who had gotten pregnant and continue my education to graduation. I am blessed to have the most unbelievable daughter imaginable. She is today thirty years old, a respected Pediatrician, and the most balanced woman I have ever met. I'm more than proud of her, she is the best thing that ever happened to me. It can be done.

Regarding the parents - I had the most strict parents you could possibly imagine and still managed to get pregnant. If a child wants to do something bad enough, it's going to happen now matter how good the parenting.

:thumbup: I also agree with what you are saying, I am in no way advocating teenage pregnancy. It was not easy being a mother at 16, I would recommend waiting until you are older. At he same time I feel its unfair to state that its not possible to be a good mother at 16. I am going on 30 now and while it was hard raising a child I think Both my child and I turned out great! ;)

She being on Nickelodeon and getting pregnant is just irresponsible. Well, I can't stand her family anyway alot too trashy even for me. And her mothers wants to write a book? It should be a how not to raise your children.

I feel bad for her - I mean, look at what she grew up in. Not the best environment. Plus, she's 16, and pretty much emancipated from her parents so that she is allowed to act professionally w/out hours restrictions - so it was kind of a LOT for a young person to handle.

I give her credit for having the courage to let it be known and admitting that it wasn't smart on her part. I certainly hope she finds the support she needs so that she doesn't follow in her sister's parenting footsteps. I'm sure she is scared to death, poor girl.
