Prayers Needed 1 Attachment(s) My son's friend (actually ex girlfriend) Amanda was in a really bad car accident a few weeks ago. Her liver was punctured and she had internal bleeding. They thought she was getting better but they moved her to another hospital in Charlottesville Va because our local hospital could not help her. They might have to take her panreas out. She is only 18 years old. She was leaving the firehall that her and my son belong to when an older man was driving on the wrong side of the road and hit her head on. The man and his poodle died on impact. My son was one of the first responders and took Amand's accident hard. He had never responded to an accident with someone he knew that well. We are praying she will be okay. I will attach a picture of her with my son John. Please pray for Amanda and her family. |
Prayers being sent to Amanda, her family and your Son. How horrible, but remember... God kept her here for a reason. I have faith she will get better. :animal-pa They are both adorable! |
That's sad. Sending a prayer. |
Prayer's coming for Amanda and her family. This is the season for miracles if ever there was one. They made a very handsome couple. I am sorry your son was on that call. I hope he's doing better. |
Sending out prayers to Amanda and her family. |
Praying for her and all involved |
Thank you guys for praying. I was thinking maybe there could be a Christmas miracle. They said she would be a diabetic for rest of her life and have to take insulin everyday. Her pulse stays really high and they can't stabilize her. They are trying something on her that they have have never tried before. I think she should have went to Fairfax hospital, that's the best one that I know of. |
OMG, how horrible!!!! Prayers coming your way for Amanda, her family and yours as well. I just read your post about her being a diabetic now. My 10 year old daughter is a type 1 diabetic (diagnosed when she was 6). She is on insulin injections every day, too---and will be until there is a cure. Although it certainly changes lives, it is manageable. I'm sure that will be a big adjustment for an 18 year old. :( We do a lot here in Atlanta with diabetes support and mentoring. I'm sure there are lots of groups in her area, as well, and would definitely suggest hooking up with one. Although Amanda's situation is different, the fact that she will be a diabetic will be the same and connecting with other teens facing the same difficulties with be a big help. I know it has been for our family. God Bless. |
Prayers being sent for Amanda, her family and your son too. She's young and strong and I'm sure the hospital is doing their very best to care for her. I hope she'll recover from this and live a long and healthy life! |
Keeping Amanda, her family, and you in our thoughts and Prayers. :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: |

This is so sad...what a beautiful, young lady. I'll be praying for her and her family. |
Well her condition hasn't changed. They are still trying different treatments. Hopefully she will get better soon with all these prayers being sent her way. Thanks. |
Oh my gosh! I hope she's okay, that must have been really hard for your son responding to his friend/ex's accident. Hugs and prayers to you and your family and the girl and her family! |
Tina, thanks for posting this link for me. I completely missed this thread, but this was when my own family was home. I am so sorry, and how hard for your son to be a first responder. Still no change? What's her prognosis? Please give us an update, so we can renew prayers for Amanda, as well as her family and yours (and the other gentleman's family). |
Sending prayers out.... |
wow i missed this post. so srooy to hear about amanda we will be praying for both your families. |
oh no! I am sending prayers for her and your family. I hope she is better soon! |
She is still in the hospital with an infection. The doctors still think she will need her pancreas taken out but are trying other things at this point. My son really loves his job but I know it's hard to respond to a wreck and find someone you know. I could not do his job. He is only 20 and has seen a lot of deaths from wrecks and fires. And he has told me stories about pets they have pulled out. Usually not good ones. I think he knows I don't want to hear about them anymore. |
My daughter is going to school to become an RN. She wants to be a trauma/care flight nurse. I KNOW there is no way I could do that. I am just thankful that there are people like your son and my daughter who are willing to do this horrible job. |
