Need icing recipe for sugar cookies We are making some sugar cookies this week and cutting them into shapes...but I do not have a good home-made icing recipe. I know you need about a pound of conf. sugar...but what else? THANKS!!! |
I just mix up powdered sugar and milk and make a few different bowls of it and add food coloring to them...yummy! |
I've always used the kind that is conf. sugar and a tiny bit of water or milk! Then you can add your food coloring. |
Thanks!!! :justahug: I found one that my grandmother use to use, but it called for meringue powder (like Wilton's).....I had never heard of it and didn't know if it was needed! |
The BEST frosting. 1 stick softened oleo, 4 cups powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla (but I like to use almond extract for sugar cookies) and about 1/4 cup milk. Tastes soooooooo good. |
We had a patient bring us sugar cookies today and the frosting was the best!!! She said all she used was Betty Crocker cream cheese frosting in the tub. (the kind that is already to spread.) She said she added a "pinch" of vanilla and a "pinch" of water to thin it out. I was impressed! :animal-pa |

My family LOVES my frosting:D |

You can also make egg "paints" out of egg yolk, a few drops of water, and a few drops of food coloring. This is the kind you paint on the raw dough before baking. It makes a really pretty smooth glossy (but sheer--like watercolors) color on cookies. |

My grandmother uses that term all the time, so I didn't think a thing about it when I read it! I wonder how many people do NOT know what that is!!! :scratchhe |

I use: 1 stick Butter 1 Box Powdered Sugar 1 Tbsp. Milk Beat with mixer..add food coloring. Remember that the more food coloring you add, the thinner the icing will become. So if you plan to use a lot of food coloring, use less milk. |
