I know with Luke, there were times that he couldn't get up at all....he was over 100lbs at the time....But with the meds that he is on and gluco. pills and supplement mixed in his food, he is doing soooo well! I think you may be surpised at how well she does on meds. BUT it is up to you...if the meds don't work, and others don't work, etc. OR if it is just too much for you...that is your choice. With Luke....I told myself that if these pills don't work, and there is nothing else....as I know $5000 for surgery is too much for us....we would have to let him go. OR if he gets to where he can't even move or play or enjoy his life, we will let him go. It is so sad and I feel your pain! She is older and most bigger dogs don't make it up there in age. My thoughts and prayers are with you and her! :justahug: |

Thanks everyone. We've been giving her glucosamine for a while now but maybe we didn't start soon enough. They think it may be something in her ankle, too. They are testing for cancer. Yes, I've seen those slings and they are a good idea. If I used it and she collapsed outside, I would have no way of getting her back in - I can't lift that much weight. I guess we'll see what happens when she is done taking the antibiotics and what the test results are. This makes me so sad. I appreciate your kind thoughts. |
I'm so sorry about your dog, and will say a prayer for her. Since this came on rather suddenly, she must have injured herself doing something. I hope the meds will help her to heal. Hugs to you! |
I'm so sorry. We'll be praying for your golden and your family. This is so hard. |
I'm so sorry this is happening to your baby. I'm sure you'll do what is best. |
Well, she went potty last night but my h had to hold her up while she did it. He said she got up and walked a few steps last night but this morning she won't get up again. I think the pain meds are helping. They are HUGE! I'm so used to little tiny pills for the small dogs that Molly's pills look like meteors. Molly is from a litter my brother's dog had. My mom also had one of the same mom's dogs and that's the one I had to take in and have PTS for her - exact same problem. |
I pray your baby improves with each day. Glucosamine is something I recomend also. |
Praying your "old lady" get better. I am sorry you have to see her like this. |
sending prayers for your fur baby hope the meds start working. |
I am so sorry, my heart is with you.:hands: :hands: :hands: |
Thanks so much everyone. She is mostly my h's dog.. he doesn't always take the best care of her. (well, according to my Yorkie standards! ) So today I had him start her on Missing Link Plus with glucosamine and he is giving her a glucosamine supplement in addition. She could barely get up when he got home, but she did and hobble out to go potty. :) H is leaving to go home to WI for Christmas and I will somehow have to get her in and out myself if she can't walk. She weighs 93 lbs. and I'm pretty sure I can't carry her. :( She just looks so old and sad. |
i\'m so sorry to hear about your golden :(. i\'m praying that her meds help her feel a little better. |
I"m so sorry about your golden. I hope the meds help her. I pray that you don\'t, but if you do end up having to make \'the decision,\' I think she will let you know that its time. Best of luck to you! |
I hope your golden gets better. Maybe pray for a Christmas miracle ?? |
