Anyone else working Christmas Eve? I am unfortunalty... never worked it before in the 5 years I've been here but now all of a sudden they want us open all day... makes zero sense since all of our clients will be closed... ... |
so unfair :( im not sure why anyone would be open on christmas eve! im not sure where you work, but im sure they dont need to be open that night. i, fortunately, own my own business so can take vacation whenever i want! i will be on a plane to costa rica on christmas eve! if i were you, i would call in sick that day!!! |

I will be :( I work at a corporate office for a chain of grocery stores. But they usually let us go early on Christmas Eve. This is the first year I haven't taken vacation the week of Christmas, but this year I have an assistant and she asked off and since I was off for Thanksgiving I couldn't very easily say no:mad: But I have 3 days vacation that I HAVE to take before the end of the year. I'll take one next week, but they will have to get a temp the day after Christmas and Friday after. |
I dont' have to work but but of my daughters do :(. They're 19 and 21 years old but this will be the very first Christmas that we won't all be together. We are having to celebrate the Sunday before. My hubby and I don't know what we're going to do on that day. It sucks |
I work at a hospital, so we are open. And i'll be working Christmas Eve, Christmas day, 6 days straight and even working New years Eve and New Years.. but i just say to myself, i really need the money right now, for the babies :) |
I am but its not to bad... Im grooming nothing but yorkies that day |
I shall be covering for another social worker that night .. but since the office is in the hospital, I feel I can bring cheer to the children at least!!! Happy holiday!!! |

I work for an attorney. If the Court House is open, we are open. :( Bummer. Hopefully we'll get off early. |
Well, I don't work outside of the house.....so NOPE!! BUT when I worked at our local university, we worked Christmas Eve but got off early. |
When I worked retail I used to have to work every Christmas Eve and then the day after Christmas. At least the mall I worked at closed at 6pm on Christmas Eve, but for some reason opened at 8am the day after Christmas! I definitely don't miss those days and now I am very patient and understanding when shopping during the busy holiday season. |
that stinks. i work the day after, so i'll drive home christmas day:( first year i had to work the day after. on the bright side i'll have no traffic:) |
I'm sorry people just get money hungry. I hope you don't have to work too late. |
My husband works at the coal docks loading boats at night and he just informed me that he might have to work as a Canadian ship that is a big client of theirs just requested loading for Dec. 24 and it would be his shift!!They are trying to get it to push ahead for the 22 or 23 or even push back to the 27. They are union and some of the guys are complaining because Dec. 24 is a holiday in their contract that they are supposed to have off. We'll see how it works out. |
