House swap anyone?
 

This is so cool. I saw the movie holiday with Cameron Diaz but i didn't know ppl actually did this! I was looking on Craigslist and there are some beautiful places that ppl have that they want to swap for an apt. in ny...dagn if only i had my own place, i would take those offers in the Carribean! Has anyone ever did this? There's sooo many places i wanna go...!!

Well i assume ppl that do this take their valuables with them and also they stay in each other's homes so there must be a contract of some kind.

LOL i know what you mean but just the thought of going somewhere else for like 2 months is so exciting! If me and my bf could go and my babies omg that would be awesome! Maybe in the future..i dont mind them staying in my house, i would be like have fun, peace! :D

I would totally swap with someone in an apt. in Manhattan! I think I would die haha. Not that I've got much to trade. A rented house in the middle of Nowhere'sville, USA. :rolleyes:

I happened upon this forum by chance. Sadly my little Yorkie, Sami, is no longer with us but it is fun to see all your photos - brings back happy memories of such a lovely, devoted little dog.

But, I was also interested in your discussion about home swapping as I just happen to run a home exchange agency from London! Craigslist is great for many things but, with home exchange (especially for first timers) it's better to look at sites specifically devoted to home exchange (like mine for instance) as this is where you will find many exchange offers all over the world and get lots of advice so that you won't be worried about having home exchange guests in your home at all by the time you do it. In fact, lots of home swappers are happy to look after each other's pets (v. useful if you are exchanging abroad) or to have you bring your pet with you (if exchanging in your own country). Maybe we could have a special section for Yorkie owners to swap with each other!? For now, I've got to get away from this site or I just might go out and buy another Yorkie!

This is a good idea, because my first reaction is what if it is a hoax and you end up in a really awful place for a month or more? The first ad you posted seems a little too good to be true. If only someone wanted to swap the caribbean for Central Tx. :rolleyes:

Yea you're right LOL Some might not be true. There was an ad i responded to about an apt. downtown, $800 for 3 bedrooms:eek: That's great for NY but too good to be true, the guy responded, def. a scam!

I think it's good in theory but I personally wouldn't do it. Too much liability. People dont' take care of your stuff like you do and to have it be a perfect stranger wouldn't do well for me.

I can see doing it with a friend but not someone like on craigslist.

Yep and I'd make 'em take pictures like we do with pups, like, take a picture of yourself in your living room or your kitchen and bathrooms and such with a piece of paper that says my name.

Yup. oh wouldn't it be horrible to wind up over in Europe somewhere in some dumpy shack? haha. (Not that it would be funny if it really happened.)
