I hope it was nothing poisoness too, but that thought crossed my mind for her to get symptoms so quickly and her heart rate to rise like that. I hope and pray she's okay!

Well I'm back...I still don't feel the greatest, but my b/p is starting to become more "normal". We called the police to see if they could test it, they can't. We called two hospitals to see where we can test it, nobody knows. :confused: They basically acted like they couldn't do anything for me. If I still feel bad tomorrow I'm going to my family doctor. He is wonderful and I know he will get to the bottom of it. We went to the coffee shop and spoke with the store owner. She was nice, but tried to make me out to be a liar. She acted as if a girl my age couldn't have b/p problems, I'm 20 will be 21 on the 27th of this month. I have an in home b/p monitor and I was checking it about every 10 minutes. The best way I could explain to her is it tingles in my mouth and the taste is almost as if I sucked on a rusty nail. :( She didn't really want to give me my money back, she wanted to give me a new frappe. She stated she felt if money was given back I won't be returning and I said that's right, I'm not returning. So she gave me my money back and we stated that I was going to get checked out and she told us she didn't understand what could of caused it and basically said in a softer way that if I go she wasn't going to pay even if it did fall back on them. I made sure to take the drink back with me. She seemed a little frightened and suspicious. She asked if the b/p problem was just a flare up and I said at 108 pulse???? It's never that high and it didn't happen till after I drank that. Also, high b/p doesn't create that foul taste. I have a funny feeling I'll be at the dr tomorrow morning. I went to get the frappe at 4:00 and its going on 10:00 and the taste is still there. Something isn't right.

There was something in that drink. I don't know what but there was a chemical or something in that. I'll be praying for a good recovery and that someone will be able to help find out what was in that drink. Chip and Smokey send puppy kisses.

It definetly sounds like there was something in that drink. it is rediculous that no one can test it for you. I say go to the police station, and bang on the door until someone lets you in. then give them the drink and tell them to test it. They can test to see if someone has alchohal on their breath, there is no reason they can't test to see if there is something bad in a drink.

I don't want to sound morbid, but did you take any medicine or anything that could make you throw it up? I know its not pleasent, but it would probably be better than letting it go through your system.

I agree! I told mom that they can do it for criminals, why not for this? Also, nobody can do it???? Surely someone around here can. The police are just so lazy and the hospital can care less.

I want it out of my system. I just really hate the thought of taking something else. I'll see what my doctor says tomorrow morning. This isn't normal. I've never ever tasted anything like this in my life.

Have you been sick or take a new medication today? Any dental problems or recent work?

I know that with caffeine I sometimes get the elevated heart rate when I haven't eaten anything.

I hope everything is ok, but if you are really worried you should get to the ER and take the drink with you. Does your ER have an on call nurse? Maybe find an 800 number and talk to a nurse. I know Group Health has one and usually you can talk to someone in the ER.

I hope you feel better soon, It could be the machine still had chemicals in it from cleaning, I cant beleive they wont do something for you, thats bs. I would be calling the owner and having the cops there, hugs and please keep us updated. the reason i say that is i got tea from a resteraunt before and got very sick, it taste just like what your tasting, i went back to complain and found out the machine was never cleaned properly and still had chemicals in it:mad:

I haven't switched any medicines. I only take one pill a day and that is for my b/p. No dental work or anything. :confused: There has to be something out there I can do. We called 2 ERs and both acted as if they have never heard of anything like this.

I found this too along with bleeding gums being a cause. Who'da figured? I did a web search for metal taste in mouth.

factor. Mints can trigger reflux and should be
eliminated as a trial. Sinus infections might be
another possibility.

I agree it could be what it was washed with, maybe just not rinsed out well. :(

We spoke with the store owner. It wasn't a big chained coffee shop, locally owned. Hubby spoke with her on the phone and said they just use regular dish soap to clean their stuff and when my mom and I went to talk to her face to face she said they soak it in sanitizing chemicals. I figured they did that, we did when I worked fast food. I would hope they sanitized their stuff. I told mom I bet they didn't rinse it, but you would think everyones stuff would taste bad.

The health department might test it,I would call them in the morning. Put whats left in the fridge.

Hmmm...interesting. What bothers me is once I took that sip that made that taste it wasn't till right then my mouth had that feeling. I dunno. The sip before that was when I had that funny textured (sp) thing in my mouth, I assumed it was the whipped cream. I've been on my medicine for a long time, you wouldn't think that would be it. Ugh, I wish the taste would go away.

With a brand new milk carton at a Atlanta Hardees......My son drank a bit of it...then I did too, just to see what the issue was.....IT WAS AWFUL.....we called the police, the health dept, the restaurant and the lab that did a test on the milk......

No one cared....and amazingly the "lab" diagnosis was paid for by the......."company" that packaged, and sold the milk......

It was a dairy in Ohio....and we contacted them.......they were absolute jerks!!! All I cared about was my son.....whether there would be damage to him later....the company could care less......

The only thing we figured out was it was the cleaning fluid that went thru the machine before and during the early filling up of the carton.

Wow! That's what I figured was it was some sort of chemical. The owner told my husband and I two separate stories now that we are thinking back. Sounds way to fishy. She is just trying to save her butt. I was a regular customer there. :( Not anymore.

My mom not being able to see very good had picked up some bannanna muffins at the store and when she got home she ate 2 of them before she had noticed some thing wasnt right. she started getting a lot of spit and started feeling sick come to find out that the one muffin left was nothing but green mold. They should of been pulled off the shelves.

I have owned convenience stores that required health dept checks. I would call them and the local poisoncontrol center. I bet they would test it. Also I would report them to the health dept anyway before someone else gets sick. I wonder if they shut the machine down since u left!

Oh my! That's terrible. Our local Kroger always has nasty food. The date on the meat at one time was 5-9 days past selling date and their milk is ALWAYS past sell date. I've told the workers several times and they don't care. So I emailed a complaint about having old milk and all I got was an automated email saying sorry for the complaint blah blah blah....and never heard anything else. We don't shop there anymore anyways. I don't want to take the risk.

oh girl, sorry about what you are going through. Cant someone with a metallic taste in their mouth have had something with mercury in it? I know mercury is poisonous. I hope you feel better really soon! (PS we share the same birthday!)

They need checked. I bet something would come up. They always have appeared to be clean, but that doesn't mean anything. When I worked fast food I remember it looked clean but in the back they had mice so bad it was pathetic and there was always one on one of those pad catchers. It was disgusting. :thumbdown She acted like nothing was wrong with their machines so I highly doubt they were cleaned or checked. Something was messed up.

Yeah, once I mentioned I called the police she got nervous and asked why and I said to ask where to get it tested. I'm sure they are busting butt tonight. If a worker put something in my drink I really don't know why, I guess just to be mean. :( I\'m a really jolly person and I would never do anything to hurt anyone. I guess I don\'t understand sometimes.
