Suggestions for my Project?? Hey everyone! My husband and I are working on a web design project for one of our classes. Could you go to this site and tell me what you think? We still have a lot to do so not all of the pages are available yet. If you have any layout, color scheme, design advice of ANY kind, PLEASE tell me! :) Also, we are trying to make sure it looks alright in all the different browsers and such so if you have problems, let me know. Thanks! |
Wow!!!! You guys did great....I am impressed....It was very easy to open and maneuver about...Wish I could do these kind of things...lol...Am so computer illiterate at times... Joyce |

Any suggestions to make it better?? We might be able to reward suggestions with a meeting with Jean LeHott!!!! lol. |
Anyone have any suggestions? We'd really appreciate them! :) |
The clothing picture at the bottom aren't working correctly- only about the top 1/4 of each picture is showing up. |

BTW, do you mind if I ask what browser you're using? Thank you so much! |

I felt bad and didn't want to sound like I was being bossy. :p ETA: I like the colors. I hate when websites use colors like yellow and hot pink and I have to highlight the text to read it! Did you make the logo? It looks great too. |

Just Gorgeous. Everything works for me (Win Vista w/IE 7). The only two suggestions that I would make are simply personal preferences. There is nothing wrong with it the way it is. But sometimes it's nice to get feedback. I love the reflective "The Look" logo on the splash page (and at the bottom of the main page). But I'd kind of like to see that same logo on the top of the main page. It's just really fresh - and is that your "brand"? If that's capturing your persona, it might be good on the main page (although having it in the bottom corner is cool too, but not the main focus). I like the "logo" that's on the main page too, but maybe it could be the secondary one instead. Also, when I see the scrolling sales like that, I like a control so I can whiz through what I don't want to look at. Like I said, I think it's gorgeous the way it is. Just giving you a couple things to play around with.   |

We were going for readability and simplicity. Can't go wrong with black, white, and gray! :) |

Do you mean you would rather see the "reflected" style logo on the top rather than the smaller version without the reflection? Again, thanks so much for the feedback! |
Ok.... first of all I LOVE the logo! Very classy! I like the overall look and feel but hey you asked for it so I'm gonna sock it to you! I do mean to help you and not bash you. You and hubby are definitely on the right track! Ready???? I don't care for the font used in "Welcome to TheLook.com!" - Maybe change the font in "Welcome" Times Roman is just too common. Each time you mention the store name "The Look" within any paragraph, it should be set apart from the rest of the text to emphasize it is the store name and not just part of the sentence - As I'm reading it, I forgot that it's the name of the store. Maybe in bold, italic, different font or color. Also I noticed in the welcome page it reads "The Look" with a space and in the legacy page it reads "TheLook" with out a space. Your signature is all bitmapped and looks like a typeset font. Can you scan in a true signature at a higher resolution to make it look cleaner? The Sale Items could be more subtle in my opinion - Maybe move it up to the end of the menu options in the same size, but do keep it red. Finally, I'm using Explorer and I can't see the scrolling images unless I scroll down the web page. It would be nice if it was under the Logo Banner to add a splash of color and interest when the window first opens. Hope this helps and I didn't hurt your feeling too much! Seriously - You are both doing great! |

Very cool project!!! You should be really proud!! Like I said, it's really beautiful just the way you have it. That first logo is just the part that struck me when I first opened the site. And even with the second static logo, I was still struck by the opening. |

Yes, the fonts are a bit bland right now. We are SO rushed for time! We had to develop two websites in less than three weeks time and there are lots of requirements plus papers, projects, and upcoming finals in other classes. Okay, enough excuses. lol I'm hoping to go back and "clean it up" at the end once we get the rest of the pages up. It's easier to change it all in the external CSS sheet so that all of the fonts are uniform on the whole site. Great idea about making "The Look" stand out in the text. We'll definitely do that! The differences in "The Look" (with and without the space) come from having two designers. :) I did TheLook and Brendon did The Look. Which do you like better? It's an easy change to make. The sale items are required to be on the front page and easy to update. It was part of the guidelines for the project so I can't change that one. But I like your suggestion about moving it up on the page! Thanks for the ideas!!! You were lots of help. :) |

You're going to be sorry you asked us. :D I'm not sure that I agree with setting the store name apart. I typically don't like too many fonts and colors unless they are very very subtle. I like the cool/cleanness of the site. And I missed the sale items being too far down. I had my window smaller than full screen and didn't even notice that it was below if I had opened the window all the way. Your page is so well spaced and clean, that I would probably miss the sale items. |
