anyone know anything about planned c-sections and going in to labor before? i am scheduled to have a c-section on the 19th of december, my due date is the 26th of december..but something that is bothering me and its too late to call the doc, is that i might go in to labor before the scheduled date. would they make me push this kid out? (sorry im not real comfortable with the idea of something so big coming out of a small opening)..lol last time i was pregnant and i had gut feeling about everything and everything turned out how i thought it would, that he would be early, there would be a c-section and that he was a boy..i had high bp the whole time and thats why we had him early. My bp is now controlled with medication that i have to stay on all the time. so now im 9 months pregnant and my gut feeling is that i will go into labor before the scheduled c-section. what happens then?..i havent had any health problems with this boy, i gained 21lbs he will be about 8lbs. im trying to plan a b-day party for my son, his b-day is the 21st of december but im scared to send out the invitations. so if i go into labor..will they still do a c-section? or will they let me push??..yikes thanks |
Too late to call the doctors office for the day? If something is bothering you and you have that "feeling" something is wrong call your doctor. If you go into labor early I don't know if they will allow a c-section unless its life threatening or unless you've been in labor for like 20 hours. |
I'd call the office on Monday and voice your concerns. I would think if you want a csection you can still opt for it even if you go into labor. |
If your labor starts before the scheduled date they just roll you right on in as an emergency c-section. Not a big deal. You will be fine...don't worry. They tend to opt for repeat c's when you have had it before. In light of the fact that you suffer from BP issues they will be ready to roll and know that it's an case where it might just be that your early. Honestly I would pick a regular vaginal delivery (did it three times with no drugs) over a c-section. My mom had a c-section for my last sister and I can always remember how painful her recovery was...so I always opted for the natural way. Good Luck. |
I know here the UK that if you have been booked for a C-Section then you will have one if you go into labour early. I can't believe you are due so soon! |
section I do not think most pregnant women are thrilled about something so big coming out of something so small..but they have been coming of that small place since time began... I did not know you could plan a C-section unless there was a problem with the mother or baby that prevented a vaginal birthing...interesting! |
thanks ladies im not in any pain or anything im just scared i will go before the scheduled c-section. its just a nagging feeling..cause i have noticed some sharp pains in the groin area not will fequently, and alot of pressure on my bottom from time to time..lots of back aches..nop sleep. leg cramps..nesting really bad..but no engery to finish what i start. my first and only s-cection was a breeze..i hope its the same this time..i was very postive about getting up and moving around..i limited myslef of peracets too... |

I think you should send out your sons invites though, if you do start then I'm sure someone will be happy to take over the party for an hour so you and hubby can get off to the hospital! :D |
because i had a emgercy c-section last time they said they would automatically do another to take this baby..i had precylampsia (sp?) with my son. my body would not corporate. i was induced 3 times, never dialted passed 2cm, and i had some back contractions (which was awful) they tried to break my water but couldnt..he just refused to come out..lol that lasted 24 hours until my blood pressure got so bad, that they went ahead and took out, hoping my bp would go down..but it only got worse... but this time everyone is as healthy as they can be |
Why are you afraid of pushing him out? 8 lbs isn't all that big  Recovery time is so much nicer for a vaginal delivery. I think that you could still have a c section if you get in there on time. I'm sure you and your doctor should discuss this so you know what his opinion is on it. I think the symptoms you are having sound like the braxton hicks contractions. Which are very normal for your phase in pregnancy. Maybe you had your 1st baby too early to have those before. Call your doc and see what he thinks. Good luck!! How exciting! |

My sister in law's first baby was like 11 pounds and she had such a hard time, sounds just about like your experience for 24 hours and then they decided to do c section. And then her last two babies she had automatic c sections as well but i think they did give the choice to go vaginal...she said hell no.:p |
:D it just scares me..i saw it on a video and it just freaks me out..i feel lucky to have had a c-section the first time..lol no 8lbs isnt big, my first son was 4lbs but thanksfully he was perfect no health problems, his lungs were deloped. i want a bigger baby this time..i just dont want to do the manual work..lol i see my doc on monday and i will ask him then.. i wasnt sure if they were braxton hicks or not cause it isnt in my stomach its lower down..and its like every couple of seconds for a few minutes and then its gone..like im having them now and its back to back..and it will stop in like 5-10 minutes..and doesnt happen again |

The cramping and twinges your having sounds like your getting closer. Those tend to be the markers for me on getting ready to rock and deliver. If I were you I would do my best to opt for a vaginal. Believe me god made that to work nicely (I have had 3 and with some kegals your good to go). The last time the preeclampsia was most likely the culprit for your not moving along naturally. Just be careful...dr's make more money on a c-section so they love to do it. Although you had a c the first time you can still deliver normally this time if you choose to. |
My first born was breech and I had a c-section scheduled but two days before, I went into labor and just went to the hospital and had a c-section. I guess they called it an emergency c-section but it didn't feel like anyone was rushing or that it was an emergency at all. Good Luck! |

i had false labor one time and boy was i mad! i had what felt like real contractions for about 3 hours. made my mom come over and hubby come home from work LOL Then i went into real labor 2 days later. |
the tinges, happen back to back..and have now ceased since my last post.. i know god made us able and all im just not willing...lol my "emergency" c-section last time was rescheduled 3 times because other people came in with bigger emergencies (understandable, but i was very uncomfortable at the time and wasnt very nice..they didnt let me eat for like 2 days i was starvin and sore..lol)..so i was supposed to go in at like 2:30 that afternoon, the it got moved to 5:00 and then finally 6pm and at 6:30 we had a whittle boy |

I think you should phone someone for advice. Over here we have a midwifery department at all hospitals and that's where you phone... do you have that over there? Maybe your own midwife? It's probably not actual labour cuz that's meant to be really painful and I doubt you'd still be sat on YT... unless you have a ridiculasly high pain threshold! lol I really do think that you should phone someone for advice though and see what they suggest. How are baby's movements? |
lol..no i dont think im labor yet..i almost wish so that i could get it over and done with before xmas and b-days and b/c im excited.. i havent thought about calling the hospital..im not sure about the midwery thing either i would have to call around. baby is very active he keeps thumping me:p |
false labor is characterized by it not being consistent. Getting up or laying down can trigger the contractions. Contractions that are not painful can still work on your cervix. Real labor doesn't get terribly painful for a lot of people until they are much more advanced into it. I could handle contractions fine until i was like 5 cm dialated. Your body is definatley getting ready. Which sounds like your body didn't have a chance to the first time around for you. Being induced is awful and if your body isn't ready it doesn't always work. YOu may have a much better experience this time. |

choleandj's post makes good sense... seeing as neither of us have had to actually have labour and delivery yet I'd listen to her! lol |
yes she does make a lot of sense |
I had 2 C-Section babies. The first C-Section was not planned and came only after hours and hours of labor - pushing and what then became an urgent situation. This made the recovery period long and arduous. The Doctor explained that it was like running a marathon and then having major abdominal surgery in the same day. The second C-Section was planned; 9.5# breach baby that they were sure wasn't going to deliver vaginally due to my first experience. However, as life would have it, I went into labor a week before my planned C-Section. When this happened we called the Doctor, who sent us on to the hospital. He met us there, gave me a drug that immediately stopped the contractions, etc and I had a much more leisurely C-Section, which was such a change of pace from my earlier emergency situation. The recovery from this second C-Section was SO much easier and smoother, as I wasn't so worn out from hours of labor. I would have preferred a vaginal birth in both instances, but my body didn't cooperate and having a more planned experience (although early) the second time was much easier on my body and I regained my strength much sooner. Hope this helps ease your nerves! |
yes it does..thank you so much |
Reading all these posts brought back great memories....I had C Sections both times....Twins were footling breech and had no room to flip around....THey were 7.6 and 6.9 and 21 inches long......Second C Section was scheduled....I got to pick the date....Walked in that morning and had Holly 2 hours later....She was 9.6 and 21 inches long..... It was great no labor......no worry.......I swear C Sections are the way to go.....I was up and walking when I got out of recovery.... So I totally understand where you are coming from....I had no desire to push a watermelon out of a straw...lol...so to speak.... Congrats on the new baby... Joyce |
