I've never had a problem with my dogs not getting on with parents so I don't know how to introduce them. I remember when we got Bonnie (RetrieverX) though and we had Emma (Border Collie) and my Dad introduced them in the garden... they had a little scamp and then were fine after that... I think all dogs need to establish whose top dog.

yes, I know all dogs have to establish who's the top guy, but at this point Rascal doesn't even want to come close!! LOL we were sitting on the couch, and this little guy was on the floor, and rascal wanted to get by, so she walked on top of the couch!! LOL She doesn't know how to get along with other dogs..


I don't know if we'll keep him..I hope the original owners get him since he's their baby. :)

oh yeah...we've started calling him Max! :p He has a collar, but no tags!

She is scared of him, but they'll have to warm up sooner or later..

Rascal has gained enough confidence to bark at him...I haven't let him bark back because then she goes and hides. He doesn't really seem to mind being barked at..I gave him Rascal's Kong and he played with it, until Rascal came and barked, then snatched it, and ran with it! LOL

aww hes cute he does look like a shih-tzu I have a furbaby that looks just like him they are really good dogs.

That could be..Now that you say it, he does look like he could have a mix of lhasa.

He is a cutie. I hope you can give him a forever home if his parents can't be found.

Have you seen if anyone was missing him? I bet he hasn't been "lost" very long...he still looks good!

I have never had a problem with introducing animals to each other.....we have had the rescues brought in and course, I always make sure they are clean and clear of any pests, diseases, etc before allowing them in the house or around Mojo.

The first one we got was Sophie.....she went straight to the vet, was spayed and tested for everything, etc. She had been abused (severely) and was very submissive....her and Mojo got along sooo great! Still do.

Luke was next.......he was huge 100lbs, still intact and kept in a cage his first two years of life. We brought him out here to run free. He was very protective and didn't like Mojo at first. He went to get nuetered and checked, etc....and now, he is the big baby of the bunch...wouldn't hurt a fly and loves all the dogs.

Rusty was after Luke....he was checked out, but not neutered yet (as he was our neighbors and we just didn't know what to think of that situation). Anyway, we are still working with him on commands, etc. BUT he is a good dog. He has spurts of growling at the other dogs, etc. But he is quickly reminded who is in charge......ie...NOT him!

Lily came next and it was as if she had always been here. I mean, it was like she had acutally spent her first two years of life in this house with all of us and the dogs.

So....with us...the introductions have all been easy. I think the key is to always be there....we were lucky enough to be an "at home" family, so we were always with the dogs.

Well that's a start that she barked and reclaimed her toy! :D

I posted a FOUND ad on craigslist, and we'll post some signs around the neighborhood today. Like I said, he's very well behaved, and listens to what you say. (besides I don't know his name).

Rascal was NOT socialized or around dogs, besides her mom, as a pup, so she has no idea how to deal with another dog.

yeah, she still won't come near though..If she has to pass by, she waits at a distance then guns through. LOL poor thing, she doens't know what to do!

Do you have any toys that wasn't hers (maybe that you were saving back for Christmas or anything) that the new pup can play with....that might make her feel better. And maybe give her a new toy as well.......you know, dogs are MUCH like kids when it comes to this sort of thing. Also, if you have a treat to one, the other should have one too! That always helped here...that way, there was no jealousy, etc.

He is cute -- my lhasa apso Tallulah looks a lot like him.

He does look alot like Tallulah. His nose is a little shorter, which makes him look shih-tzu like. I'll bet he's a ShihTzu/Lhasa mix.

Our neighbor that found him was going to call around to see if anybody was looking for him..He's such a sweetie!!

You guys are geting me in the Christmas spirit! All the kindness, warm hearts and open homes are what this holiday is really about. Sigh... now if we can convince everyone else on the planet!

We're just now going to put up signs...Rascal still isn't so sure yet! :p

We took him for a small car ride, and he obviously has been drug around in the car. Very comfortable and well behaved in the car! :)

So it wouldn't be so bad if you had to keep him a couple of days till his owners turned up then? :D

Maybe you could take the cutie and Rascal out for a walk together??

I think you're right about the shih tzu/lhasa mix -- my neighor has two shih tzus and I think he looks similar to them also :)

I think taking them for a walk together would help her warm up a bit, and not be so scared.
