what is your name???
 
it seems like there are so many people that i talk to ALL THE TIME and I have no idea what their names are LOL some have their name in their siggy...but like me...some don't.

just wondering if you would share your first name??? if not...I understand ;) but hey...i spend a lot of time with some of you ladies....it would be great to put a name with those words LOL

btw...My name is Mandee :)

Personally, I do not feel comfortable. You never know who is watching these chat boards. Sharing too much personal info online can set you up for being the victim of a stalker, or worse. I don't mean just your name, but the name attaches to posts about your kids, what schools they attend, what kind of car you drive, what your exercise habits are etc. All I am saying is, BE CAREFUL! Have you ever Googled your name, or the name of someone else? It is frightening just how much info comes up, including every post ever made under that name at a message board. Just think about all the evil things you hear that have happened to people who share too much info at places like My Space. It all starts with a name.... My suggestion is that if people feel comfortable sharing their real names, they do it through PMs and not in public posts.

Mandee, you are awesome. For the last few days I have been going thru threads and when I find someones real name, I have been writing it down so I can remember. Iknow I'm anal:D I think it just makes it more personal when I use someones name in a post. Thanks for starting this; it sure does help me out. Oh by the way my name is Patty....real original user name I know.

I don't share my name in part because of the public eye, like Gracie2006 said. But also because I have a very rare, unusual name and it is all too public cuz of work. The few who know my name, I have asked them not to use it online, it's a way to protect a bit of privacy.

When I submitted recipes to the cookbook, I just used yorkiesmiles. But I have thought, what will I do when I meet so many of you at the 2008 YT Meetup.

I've always been one to warn folks of protecting their privacy on the net; but, I don't see any harm in using our first names only in a place we commicate every day, and refer to as a 'community'.

I'll never remember all these names given (thanks, btw!)and, I like to refer to folks by their real name, if they don't mind. Sure would help if those who want to be addressed by real names would include it in their siggies.
