inexpensive home made christmas gift ideas anyone got any theyd like to share??? |
Do you mean crafty ones or cooking ones? |
I dont sew , Iam not very crafty:rolleyes: So what i do every yr, I make chex mix and puppy chow and put it into those really cute tins, So every yr they get a new tin to add to there collection,That was they can pass the tins on if wanted, i do this for my sisters and they look forward to it every yr. |
either. what is your puppy chow receipe?? i love that stuff but never made it. that would be a good cheap idea for me. how long is the mix good for?? tins they sell at the dollar store. hmmm come on people keep the crafty and food ideas coming!!! |
You could make peppermint bark and put it in nice containers. If you google it I'm sure you'll find a ton of recipes. |
A salt scrub made with kosher salt and oil mixed with a fragranced one. Or a sugar scrub, same premise as the salt. I think you can also make one with oats. |
Get some nice paper and cut it into small stripes. On each stripe of paper write a memory (something funny, a vacation, an inside joke, etc.) of the person you are making the gift for. Make a whole bunch of them and put them in a nice container. You could also found them in half and punch a hole through both layers and tie it closed with ribbon. I did this for my mom one mother's year probably 5 or more years ago and she still says how it has been her favorite gift ever. |
I'm making either a cookie/cake mix to put in jars, the ones where you can see each level of it? And then I'm going to add a lil card for the instructions and also a pot holder. Should cost probably a couple bucks per jar. :) |

Speaking of that...I am making my grandfather some nut mixes in a jar. (once I get some recipes) |
check out www.chex.com and they have TONS of chex mix recipes. The margarita one is my absolute favorite. I leave out the tequila and just put in extra lime. My family always loves it. Our other faves are the ranch (you don't even have to cook that one!), the regular one, hot and spicy, The Lemonade one and the BBQ one did not go over well at all. |
I am just going to take your advice ... I am not crafty ... |

Whoa!!! I didn't know there were so many recipes!!!  |
I am not crafty enough for gifts but love food gifts and they are CHEAP!1.homeade fudge in a tin 1st wrapped in festive cellophane.2.5 layer bars, again wrapped in celophane on a paper or plastic plate with a bow! now,shhh...heres my secret and everyone thinks i am a genious.haha I cook but not so good in the baking dept. For the fudge, the recipe is a no fail and is on the back of the large container of marshmallow fluff and I add pecans. For the 5 layer bars I used to use the recipe on the back of the eagle brand condensed milk but this year you can by the kit in the box by eagle brand, yay,in the brownie section, YT pals! I am on a fixed income so these are easy and affordable for me and welcome gifts for friends and the kicker is they think I cooked my butt off! heehee |
You can make jar recipes like already mentioned and or make rock candy and buy cheap Christmas tins to put them in. YOu can buy see through vaces and fill with one string of white or colored lights and popuri and put a dollie on top with a ribbon tied around it, They make beautiful gifts. And for the Naughty ones or as a joke you can Fill a baggie with marshmellows and put a little card in the bag that says. You've been NAUGHTY So heres the scoop Nothing for you But SNOWMAN POOP and draw a little snowman on the card too. I made a few of these. lol Or you can use choc covered raisens and Change the Snowman poop to Raindeer poop. lol |
