ME TOO!!! I can't get enough mashed potatoes :) It's just me, Simon & Hallie this year but I'm still making a feast! I'm making a tofurky, mashed potatoes (of course), green beans, yams, and stuffing. I can't wait.

What is the broccoli cheese rice casserole? Sounds like something I would LOVE.

adorame 11-21-2007 05:46 PM

Well I love my moms smashed potatoes and her "hillbilly" green beans and caramel apple pie.My husband loves her pumpkin pie that she makes from scratch, so much better then canned pumpkin, but it's her apple pie that I love!!

patty58 11-21-2007 05:47 PM

Shana, remember to pace yourself....:p ...you don't have as much tummy room as you used to have. Take some zippy bags for leftovers, just tell them  it's for the baby.
I remember Thanksgiving the year that I was preggers. Grandpa was showing the old home movies & I was under the dining room table with my little cousin Scott...eating a  whole pumpkin pie and grandma's home made whipped cream.
This year i'm diabetic & I really have to watch the carbs.....

pea496 11-21-2007 07:01 PM

I love the stuffing, turkey, white turnip, butternut squash and homemade whole cranberry sauce. I made the stuffing, butternut squash, turnip and cranberry sauce today. Tomorrow I will just have to do the turkey (cook in a bag), do the mashed potatoes, heat up the rolls and vegetables. I also have a blueberry pie and a chocolate cream pie (usually we have apple, pumpkin and pecan pies, but I decided to change this year). Conner will have a little white meat turkey.

Here's more for you. It was an big old victorian (tudor style with an open turret staircase) farmhouse. The dining room table sat 12 comfortably. I was 22 yrs old and 6 mos along, Scott was 12 and hungry all of the time. I ate the pumpkin and he ate the crust & we both mowed on the whipped cream. Grandpa was sitting at the table with the movie projector showing movies on a big screen in the parlor. My dad was the one who ratted us out. It was a good pie.

parker 11-21-2007 07:37 PM

Mash Taters!!!!! mmmhmmmmmm

HallTx1203 11-21-2007 08:08 PM

My favorites would be my step mom's fruit salad...She makes the best fruit salad....and her green rice casserole dish...

AngieDoogles 11-21-2007 08:09 PM

Sweet potato casserole and cranberry sauce! YUM!

yorkiesmiles 11-21-2007 09:06 PM

I love the dark meat of the turkey - ummmm good - but I won't be having any tomorrow :( -- it's just going to be my daughter & I - we were suppose to be in Atlanta, and we could have went to some friends or to an aunt's, but we decided to cook something special up just for the 2 of us, so we are having cornish game hens instead.

I also love the sweet potatoes - they're heavenly. :)

Turkey and Mashed potatoes and punchbowl cake, I just got done making that. pics below.

SladesMommy 11-21-2007 09:35 PM

Im pretty picky.

Usually the only thing on my plate at thanksgivng dinner is Turkey, Mac and cheese (but ONLY if its kraft boxed), Rice and gravy (if we are having that instead of mac and cheese, Biscuit or roll, banana pudding and chocolate pecan pie!

We are going to a nice restaurant for dinner tomorrow, just me and mom since there was some family drama about which house we would eat. I think I might not even get turkey... i'm thinking steak maybe?

It's just me and Sadie this year too - and ya know what?? - I can't wait for a nice quiet Thanksgiving - isn't that awful and antisocial?? Sadie and I are having turkey, stuffing, peas, squash , and pumpkin pie - YUM YUM!!

Happy Thanksgiving to everybody!!

Love,
Pat and Sadie Louise

chattiesmom 11-21-2007 09:47 PM

Oh boy.... Shana is asking hard questions again.

Like everyone we have special holiday dishes that we make twice a year.....

The green jello and the orange jello are two of my most favorites. But it's hard to beat good cornbread dressing and giblett gravey. But wait..... then there's the broccolli casserole and sweet potato casserole and seven layer salad ......

Me too! I just made some today with fresh cranberries, oranges, apples, etc. YUM!!!

Then I also use some of that (above) to put in red Jello along with crushed pineapple, apple chunks, diced celery, and pecans! YUMMMMY! My family always requests that I make it for Thanksgiving. Nothing better with turkey. Canned cranberries just don't compare!
