I'm soooo sorry!!! how terrible!!!! RIP Sissy I hope Bella recovers soon. I can't believe somebody would let a dangerous dog run loose! |
I am so sorry to hear this. I logged on to post a similar story that happened to me a few minutes ago, but after reading this, I feel so LUCKY that the outcome was not the same. I would definately not let this rest and would pursue legal action against Precious and her "owners" to the fullest exent possible. She could do this again...to your furbaby or someone elses! |
I am so sorry, My heart feels for you. will say a prayer for you and Your little one and family. |
I am so sorry that Sissy died because of someone else not watching their dog properly. :cry8: And poor Bella, I pray that she recovers from her wounds. :hands: I just can't imagine what you and your family are going thru. Please keep us updated on Bella's condition. Rest In Peace, dear Sissy. :angelyork :rbyorkie: |
I am so sorry that this happened. I am in tears. I will be praying for you and your family. Please keep us posted on Bella's recovery. I'll be praying that you find favor in the eyes of the judge. You know, God can move the heart of a king. So surely He can move the heart of a judge. Our thoughts are with you during this time. |
Helen - I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how horrible this was and what you must be feeling. My thoughts and prayers are with you. |
:rip: :littleang Sissy. Bella:getwell: :big_hug: . Helen:hands:  for you and your husband and for Bella. I'm so sorry for you loss. |
OMG! How awful! I just cannot even imagine what you must be feeling. Those poor babies. I hope Bella gets well really soon to help heal your heart. I certainly would sue their butts off. It is a shame that the courts look at our pets as "property" and don't award what they are worth to us, but I would get every penny you can from them. ESPECIALLY when the dog came on YOUR property. This is just so heartbreaking. I will be praying for you and your family. HUGS Sonya |
I am so sorry this has happened to you. No one should have to go through this. I will pray for your little one. We have a vicious dog (pit bull) that lives behind us and the dog goes berzerk when we let our dogs out because he wants to attack them. He rams himself into the fence trying to break through. We have to go out with them at all times and carry a weapon for protection. Authorities tell us that they can't do anything until the dog mauls us or the dogs or kills us. Wonderful. |
Oh my Helen....I am so very sorry for you, your hubby, Bella and Sissy. Please give Miss Bella an extra hug from Moose and I. I hope Bella recovers very quickly. This is so very sad. Hang in there sweetie. You are all in my prayers. :animal-pa |
what a horrible thing to happen. I'm so sorry for your loss. |
I am so so sorry Oh my goodness I am so sorry! A similar thing happened to me during the whole Katrina episode. My little yorkie, Libby, was attacked by a rottweiler (sp) She had alot of the same injuries as your sweet baby. I am so sorry you are going through this. Please let me know if there is anything at all I can do for you. I would be more than happy to. |
How sad! I hope that Bella makes a speedy recovery and I am so sorry for the loss of your Sissy! You all will be in my prayers! |
I'm so sorry to hear this. It's a shame, because someone let their dog loose now your one baby is seriously injured and your other baby lost her life. I hope your able to make it through this hard time. I'll keep you guys in my prayers. |
Oh I am sooo sorry what a horrible thing to have happen. I couldn't even imagine. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. |
Omg i just saw this, im in tears right now! I'm so sorry!!:( :( As i was reading i thought i had read that Bella was fine and Sissy had surgery and was going to be fine but then i realized that she died. I am soo sorry, this is terrible! What kind of owners does that lab have that made her do that?? They are pretty irresponsible, did they even know she was gone? This story is so sad, my prayers are with you and your family:( RIP Sissy |
I hope Bella has a speedy recovery and hope that soon you and your husband can start to heal over the loss of Sissy. So, will Precious' parents be liable for all vet bills incurred due to their dogs romp around in YOUR backyard. That is crazy.. i can't believe it... I am soo soo sorry |

What a terrible thing to have happened to your sweet little ones. It is just not right that people do not recognize their responsibility in owning a dog, big or small. I wish your little one a speedy recovery and please accept my complete sympathies for your lost little one. This must be terribly hard on you. I would definitely take action against the owners of the dog that hurt and killed your babies. |
oh no Oh dear, I am so sorry for your loss. What an awful tragedy ... poor baby, may she R.I.P. My heart goes out to you .... I hope Bella is doing better! No family should have to go through this .... |
so sad, your babies are in our prayers |
Oh, how very sad Helen, I am so very sorry for your loss. I think I might contact an attorney, not sure if they would consider this a loss...I do not know what the laws are....based on the fact that the dog entered your fenced yard, something should be done.... What does the owners of the lab say? Are they willing to compensate you, not like that would help now....but something needs to be done... Makes me sick.....:thumbdown |
I am so sorry for your loss. What a horrible thing to happen!! I agree with the others, I would take the owners to court, they should atleast have to pay for Bella's injury and the loss of Sissy. I am so sorry.:( |
I read your post last night and haven't been able to stop thinking about your loss. I am so sorry that you and your babies had to go through that. Sending prayers your way. |
i am so very sorry. this story just put me in tears. |
Helen, my heart aches for you an your husband. Even in the privacy of your own yard your babies were not safe. I am so sorry for your loss. I wish Bella a full recovery. I can't imagine the horror they went through and you finding them. I hope, in time, all of you can put this tragedy behind you. Again, I am so sorry. |
I am SOOO sorry for your loss!!! My heart just breaks for you and your family. Recently my mom almost lost her yorkiepoo just taking a walk around the block on a leash, she too was rushed in to emergency surgery to save her life. It was TERRIBLE and heartbreaking. Some things are just sooo senseless!! Again Im sooooo SORRY! This is a truely heartbreaking and devastating story. Noone should have to go through that and to have to live with the pain of knowing their babies were hurt so badly. (((HUGS))) |
Thank you all for your prayers and emotional support. Words cannot express the pain we are feeling, but we also feel the strength given to us through your prayers. Bella is still in a great deal of pain and takes strong pain medication twice a day. We have to hand feed her, otherwise she will not eat. On Tuesday morning, I had to go to Animal Control to talk with the Supervisor who picked up “Precious” and retrieved Sissy’s body. He explained to me what my rights were, and what the process will be in the coming months. The hearing will not be held until January because of the holidays. He feels strongly that there will be a hearing, because the owner, although she has expressed “sorrow” is not welling to surrender her dog to animal control. Because this is “Precious’” first offense, it is very likely that the full commission will allow the dog to go back to her owners, with strict restrictions (whatever that means). This dog knows where my back yard is, and unbeknownst to us, was in our yard the Thursday before where she attacked my daughter’s dog. Shiloh is a beagle mix, and was able to fight the dog off; however, she licked her wounds clean and though she had blood on her bed and on the floor, we did not see the wounds because she would not let us touch her leg. My daughter and son-in-law came over as soon as they got back in town Sunday evening, and found the puncture wounds on her chest, her inner thigh, her left ear, and right rear leg. They took her to the vet Monday and after the vet shaved the area where she was bit, were able to see all the damage done. Animal Control told me that we are entitled to have our vet bills paid (so far over $2,000), pain and suffering (priceless), replace costs for Sissy (priceless) and other expenses involved with the attack. That would include mileage to the vet (4 trips at 60 miles round trip so far) and the cost of cremation. They let me have one last look at Sissy, allowing me to spend as much time as I needed to pet her head and pat her body. They had her wrapped in a pink towel with just her head and front paws exposed. I will never forget the fear and horror frozen on her little face, and the fear on Bella’s face as she crawled up the stairs of the deck. Bella was covered with blood, and her right side was quivering in pain. We are having Sissy cremated so that we can keep her here at home with us forever. The Supervisor plans to call the police officer and myself as witnesses at the hearing, as well as have pictures available of our yard and our little Sissy. I also gave him a copy of the seven page vet report on Bella, which he added to the file. I agree with those of you who expressed concern about the dog’s owners. Why was she running around loose, and was she taught to go after prey? We will keep you posted on Bella’s progress, and again, soak up the thoughts and prayers you are sending our way. Our only consolation is knowing that Sissy will never again feel pain or fear, and has joined her sisters and brothers over Rainbow Bridge. |
I am just now seeing this and am in shock! My heart breaks for what you and your husband are going through! What a horrible thought to think your babies are not safe in their own fenced-in backyard. What are the other owners saying??? Prayers for you and your husband and for a speedy recovery for your sweet baby. I am so sorry for your loss. :( |
I just saw your last post and think you definitely need an attorney. Although I know all you can think about is your loss right now (we would all be the same way), you need to be certain that you are compensated for your loss (I know money can't ease your pain), vet bills, another Yorkie if you feel you would want to do that at some point down the road, etc. It also doesn't sound like this was "Precious"'s first offense considering what happened to the beagle! :thumbdown I am so sorry you having to go though this. |
