Then my advice to those people would be to get out and get a job or quit having kids!:mad: I have some in-laws that are like that...they make rude comments about things we spend OUR money on like, "Must be nice to have money to go on vacation...." I'm sorry, but I refuse to feel bad over anything I work my butt off for and you shouldn't feel bad either! There are opportunities out there for everyone who actually tries. Grrrr....

I'm with you MIL...don't sweat them...if that is all they have to sit around and worry about, then they must have very sad, boring lives.

Sure it can! You can just say "Welcome to the Sunshine State, you must be new!" Then when they say they've lived there for their whole lives you could say "Oh well I certainly could not tell by your cloudy disposition!" ;)

Don't feel guilty in the least. If they can afford to be smokers and drinkers and be in a coffee shop for that matter - and they aren't taking care of their own, then shame on them!!!!! Never apologize for what you work hard for or how you chose to spend your money.

Please DONT feel guilty! They have no right to judge you and where you spend your money. It's your money, you and your hubby work for your money, so you can spend it wherever you please! Next time you see them you need to let them have it, for your sake and Susanah's!

Out of curiousity where in Georgia are you? Those two ladies sound exactly like the sister of my exboyfriend who happens to live in a semi rural little town in Georgia a ways out of Atlanta...Every moment with her that I had to spend over the unfortunate years I wasted dating her brother was like getting a root canal with no novicane...It was somehow my fault she decided to marry a man she barely knew at age 18, it was somehow my fault she had three kids that she could not afford to take care of in part because they need two 12 packs of budweiser and a carton of cigarrettes every day and her husband just couldn't manage to keep a job or stop getting DUIs, it was somehow my fault she could not afford to return to school...Why was it my fault? I made the mistake of taking off my shoes and changing into flip flops at a BBQ and she noticed they were Gucci...Apparently it is obscene to own nice things when she and folks like her have to shop at target...The dog clothes really got her into a rage at time...

Just like it does not make you better because you have things and $$$, it does not make you better or give you the right to be rude or condescending because you do not...

I am in a little town called Buchanan. It isn't far from a place called "Booger Hollow" if that gives you any indication of how far out in the sticks we are. lol

Oh I'm sorry. People are just rude, but I agree with MIL. They are jealous and you just need to consider the source. You know you are a better person then they are and you know the truth and that's all that matters. It really doesn't matter what bitter 'ole bats think.

I am actually quite familiar with Buchanon not unlike Villa Rica the town where that fine young lady I spoke of lives...I guess you have a lot of backward little towns outside the perimeter there...I will be headed down to Atlanta in just a few weeks and believe me you would have to drag me outside that perimeter...I feel for you!

Oh I would much rather be INSIDE the perimeter myself. DH won't hear of it though. He actually LIKES it here. :rolleyes:

Definitely must have forgetten. Since when is it anybody's business how you spend your money (whether you have a little or a lot--it doesn't matter)? These ladies sound like they are very bitter about life. I am sorry you had to listen to that! :(

I'm in alabama and yes i get those comments to and my thing is if they could afford a yorkie, they too would be happy to take he or she everywhere. AND I do love shopping for ralph also. He's not above my children but he is a part of my family. So to everybody who has the negative comments about our "dogs" all i can say is "Oh well"
