Anyone gone through laser tattoo removal?? I recently got 2 tattoos while going through a very hard time... It was an emotional and rebellious period and I have since come to regret my decisions. They are both just black ink outlines (one of a dove and the other just words in cursive) I was wondering if the laser treatments are very successful... and about how much they cost. I DO have an appointment on Monday to see a specialist and to get an estimate of price but what I really want to hear about it someone else's actual experience and whether or not it yields great results. Thank you ladies!!!!!!!!!! |
im not sure how much it really costs, but my brother had to have his tattoo removed to be a police officer, he has done a total of i believe 6 treatments/sessions and i think he has a couple to go. |

BUt I have no clue about this stuff!! How big was his tattoo? Was it colored in? My dove is about the size of a half dollar (maybe a little smaller) nad the cursive is rather small as well... Aggg! haha I def know that my daughter/son is getting a lecture on tattoos and to wait UNTIL YOUR ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN and are in the right frame of mind before you get one. Haha... I really wasn't. Stress/life/family problems really clouded my conscious at the time. Arg. haha Well thanks for the comment-- Anyone else have any other info? |
I know that the black outline ink is the thickest and hardest to get off. From what I've heard, the laser treatment is painful.:( They've been advertising this stuff on the radio--"Wrecking Ball"--that is some kind of lotion. You may could fade it out alot and then only have a few laser treatments done...:) |

I have done a lot of research and found that black and red fade the quickest while bright colors such as yellow and green take longer... So I'm just wondering where you heard this? Thank you!!!!!!!!!!! |
My cousin is in the process of getting one of hers removed. Her's is a lot bigger, though..her whole bicep..it was some lady holding a gun (don't ask! haha). She's been through a couple of sessions..and she said it was INCREDIBLY painful...you can hear and smell it happening.. Its also very costly..good luck to you! I hope I didn't scare you off! Her red has faded the quickest..Im not sure about the black, though.. |
i've been wondering about this too. I have a black cat that came out all crappy on my right shoulder and i want to either get rid of it or cover it up with another. its just in a weird position that i don't think a cover-up would look good unless it was oddly shaped. let me know what you find out |
I have 2 tattoos. One is red and black. The other is orange/yellow/red/black. If the tattoo artist knows what they're doing, black won't fade. My red and black tattoo is just as bright and vibrant as it was when I got it over 2 years ago. My other one has faded badly, especially the orange and yellow. I've had it touched up once and think it's ready to be done again. |

And yes- I know it's painful. I wasn't expecting this to be easy.... but I have a very high tolerance for pain. Getting the tattoo (one on my hip and one on my foot) didn't bother me. I know this will be 10X worse... but I'm pretty tough hahaha I know I'm refuting a lot of what you guys are saying... it's just that I've done a lot of research and I'm wanting to clarify what I've heard from what is true (or at least explained on all the laser tattoo sites I've been to) But Please--- keep up with the comments! I'm hoping to hear of some more first hand experiences! Thank you!!!! |
Anyone else? I'm researching like crazy and I just want to get this whole process started and know what to expect |
I haven't, i must hurt! I don't even have a tattoo, when i was younger i wanted to get one, a tiny one but got over it cause who knows if i will like it in 20 yrs |
I wish I didnt get my tattoos in a way..but in another way they represent something to me also...I wont ever get them removed..what about getting them covered over?? Something special..maybe?? lol Dawn |

(when I was younger, I had a few tat artist friends as my roommate was dating one, so I learned all kinds of useless facts about them.) |
 I have and let me tell ya, never again !!! I have 3 and they are not going anywhere !!!!! I had one removed many yrs ago, because my bf hated it, so had it removed, it was a Rose, i had the laser, and after the procedure they put this stuff on that looked like salt that you have to keep reaply, had a another appointment in 10 days, well after a week i still could see the colors , i panicked and called, they said dont worry , we will take care of that when you come in.....well they did that allright, they took gauze and rubbed it off, let me tell ya , i about came off the table...on the bright side, all colors came off, but it did leave scaring that i hated, well you guys not gonna believe this, i hated scar so bad, when i ditched bf , i went and coverd up scar with another Rose twice as big:D and let me tell you , there is no one that can talk me into getting rid of one ever again !;) |

They went back over it w/ a gun first, then loosened w/ the gritty goo, let it dry to a piece of gauze and literally ripped out the color. OUCH! Thanks but no thanks!:( |

I had to have one removed that was about three inches colored in ,and it took 3 treatments to barely see it. |
My aunt had one removed. She had a butterfly on her breast and she said it was pretty painful for her. Not sure if its just because of the area it was in. But, she had to go in for numerous treatments and over a long period of time too. It didnt look that great when she was going through the treatment either.... But, now its totally gone, cant even tell there was anything there... |

I'll have to fill you all in on Monday after my consultation. THanks for all the replies and keep 'em comin if you would like to help ease my stress. I'm really not afraid of the pain-- I think I may be a freak? Who knows! I just want to be back to my old self again. I know it'll take awhile...BUUUT it'll be worth it |
I'm bringing this thread back up to the top to see more experiences regarding tattoo removal. I am getting a tattoo removed from the top of my toe. I had my consultation today & the surgeon is confident she can remove it, but won't give me an estimate on sessions. I would just like to see who has experiences with this. I would like to know the place where the tattoo was, how big, what colors, # of sessions, & what it looks like now. Thanks, |

I had one removed. It was black ink only. My doc said black and blue can be removed, but other colors will not abosorb the laser. It took about 5 treatments. I could've never afforded it but I worked for the doctor and he'd never used the laser for tattoo removal before, so it was kind of an experiment for him too. I have a small scar in one spot because he set the laser too high and it scabbed. I'm lucky to have been able to have it done, my tattoo was a complete mistake, done on a whim after quite a bit of wine.:D Good Luck. |
how much does this normally cost? i wodner about it too...... |

Didn't types of laser are needed to remove different colors. Certain colors only absorb certain colors of laser light. Black absorbs all the colors. yellow is really hard to remove because it bounces the laser back. My surgeon said green is really hard too. |

Mine will be 250 a session & the surgeon told me to plan for 6-10 sessions. The place I am going determines price by the square centimeter, mine is 2x2 centimeters (about 1" square). I know bizzbeth's costs 150 per session, but she's lives in california where there is probably more ability to shop around for price. It's going to be expensive, but worth it because I was making my self physically sick over, I view it has paying to have a tumor removed that was making me really sick. |
