Marco Island or West Palm Beach, Fl?? I'm debating between the two places to visit for my Spring Break... either the Marco Island Marriott or the Hilton in West Palm Beach. Anyone been to either or both? Anything you can tell me about either place? Any info would be great! I'm not a big fan of the traditional spring break- so no worries about either place lacking that scene. |
I love Marco Island it's so beautiful and relaxing. |
break... Try Marco Island...the traffic around here is already too much with the snowbirds..LOL |
I've never been to Marco but I lived in West Palm for 7 years and miss it so much. If you decide to go there, feel free to ask any questions.:) I had a friend who vacationed in Marco Island every summer and she loved it (of course she lived in W. Palm;)). |

I love South Beach and Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive but don't wanna go there as I'm worried it'll be to "spring break." |
I love both and have been to both but in my opinion they are both very different. Marco is way more relaxed and quiet and West Palm is more happening. What are you looking for? :D |
Marco Island - been there and you will love it....so pretty and relaxing and tons of stuff to do. |

I'm not a huge fan of clubs and bars so those aren't as important. |

If you like the beach definitely Marco Island, if you like to go to the nice stores for shopping then West Palm Beach |

1 Attachment(s) I live in Cape Coral/Ft. Myers, which is a short drive from Marco Island. Although I haven't been to WPB, I think it is more relaxed and laid back here. Marco, Captiva and Sanibel Islands are all very pretty. Everything has been completely rebuilt after Hurricane Charlie. I think a lot of people rent bikes on the island to get around. You can also rent a car and go to Fort Myers Beach, Lovers Key, and Naples. There is a small outlet mall right off Sanibel Island and there is also Miromar Outlet Mall in Estero. Of course, since I live here, I would rather go to SoBe, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale but thats just my personal preference.:) Oh here is a picture on Marco taken this past April....what I call a view of paradise:D |
Marco is gorgeous, I have a friend who lives there, it is much more laid back W palm would have more going on but if your not into the happening scene then marco |

Ft. Lauderdale was another option but I'm worried about it being to "Spring Break." Such a hard decision! I honestly wasn't expecting for someone people to be familiar with both places!! |
Bumping in case anyone else has any suggestions. :) |
I say Marco Island:) |
|
Well, like some said Marco Island is more relaxing, the beach is BEAUTIFUL, and you get the sunsets. There are a few outlets around the area and those are cool. West Palm has more stuff to do because it's a bigger city, but I like the beach at Marco a lot better. |
I love Marco Island and the Marriott Hotel there is thee best.....absolutely wonderful service. Then there is Naples only a few miles away with great restaurants and shops that make your money just flow:D Never been to West Palm Beach so don't know about that city in Fl. Have fun and relax in the sun. |

Did you say - are you taking your babies with you? |
Hey Caren, he's not taking them. I haven't been to Marco but I LOVE Sanibel. I have heard that condos are really taking over Marco, like most of our beaches, I don't know if that's true but it's definitely not like that in Sanibel. LOL, are you confused enough yet Kyle? |
I love Sanibel too but I just remembered the best vacation we ever had in Florida was in northern Fl. at Amelia Island. It was glorious and I think they still have a Marriott there. Maybe you could go to all five LOL |
In looking to find that Amelia Island has one of the 10 best beaches in the U.S. I found this , a spot that we have forgotten in Florida and I would love to go. http://www.usaweekend.com/03_issues/...ingtravel.html |

I just can't decide between the two! I'm leaning more towards Marco for the beach but I'm worried that there won't be enough to do. Hmm. |
I have a condo on Marco and I agree that the Marriott is really nice. They just re-did it and the new pool is amazing. You can get your own private cabana. Very cool!! However, outside of the Marriott they do roll in the sidewalks early on Marco. Even I wish there was more to do on Marco in the evenings and I'm a lot older than you. The last time I was in Marco (September) there was a lot of road construction going on, which was a big pain in the butt. They might be finished by now but I doubt it - I can find out for sure if you need me to. Of course, Naples is nearby and there is always something to do in Naples but I wouldn't consider it very spring-break-like. If you are going to relax, it's great and you can have lots of fun without even leaving the Marriott. They have a couple of nice clubs right on the beach. Oh and there is usually a fun crowd in the evening at the Esplanade and Cap'n O'Brien's has a comedy club now. PM me if you need more info about anything on Marco. |

I would go to West Palm if you are worried about not having enough to do. It is very relaxed in Marco. :) |

Marco Island has plenty to do. There's boating, scuba diving, fishing, shell collecting, midnight cruises, and all kinds of shops in the neighboring citys. Plus no Spring Breakers. |
So I'm going to... MARCO BEACH! Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I really appreciate it. |
