Any Rule At Your Home???? Was curious if others have any rule or rules at their home if so would you like to share. I have one rule, actually two :) :) they have been a rule in our home forever, I am very much put out when people don't want to abide by it, never a problem with friends and family they all seem to acknowledge it, but it is business people that don't. I have to tell them and I get all kinds of flack concerning the one. Thought it would be interesting to see if others also have any? I had this happen late this afternoon from a technician and am trying to COOL DOWN from it, yes, it made me  I am a very easy going person and don't generally get mad but I do respect other peoples wishes and don't understand when they can't respect mine  Patti and Jack our girls say us too :animal36 :animal36 :animal36 |
What was the rule? |
My only Rule is, Yorkies Rule This Home;) |
1. If you want to smoke-you can do it on the front porch and no, I don't care how cold it is out there. 2. Wipe your feet BEFORE you come in the house-the rug in the foyer is a decoration. 3. Put the lid down after you use the toilet and put the fan on 4. Make sure you close the outside garage door before you open the inside one so the dogs don't get out. (and my husband would probably tell you there are a million more rules around here) |
I am just dying of curiosity now! What are your two rules?? We have one at least...no feeding Gizmo from the table. |
i dont have many more for the dogs tho 1. You break it you buy it ! 2. no feeding the dogs 3. no picking the up 3. make sure there accouted for before opening the door |
No smoking No cursing ... and pretty much anything else that I dont want my child to be around! :D |
I want to know the rules too! My house is -- No Smoking If your shoes are muddy or damp, leave'em at the door Dont sit in the boys chair, its theirs. They wont sit in yours so dont sit in theirs:D |
We do not have that many??? I think 1) No Feeding the dogs from the table 2) No Dogs in "our" bed 3) No screaming or yelling or fighting in the house ( We have 6 kids-lol) 4) No Smoking |
My Rules 1- No negativity (leave that outside my home) 2- No Smoking, Go out and do it 3- No touching my computer 4- Every one must listen to Koda she is the boss, I work for her!!! |

Our number 2 rule is similiar to your number 2 rule, cept I do go a bit farther, I have a nice sign posted on our entry door to "PLEASE TAKE SHOES OFF BEFORE COMING IN, THANKS." Have a nice chair and rug right there for them to sit down and remove them. Friends and family are great, most all our friends feel the same as we do, it is the business establishments that don't care. Today it was our internet provider, tech said, "no, it was the company rule." I had to call them and let them know I have rules too. It doesn't take much for one to understand why we have this rule, all one has to do is think about it for a minute. I know I am very fussy when it comes to the floors but I wouldn't be any other way for ourselves and our fur babies too :animal36 :animal36 :animal36 We appreciated when the tech. from Dish Network came out to do an installation the tech had the throw away booties, he put on over his shoes before coming in. Patti and Jack and girls |
Oh, I have lots of rules: you get it out, you put it back all dirty clothes go to the laundry room no shoes in the house no playing until homework is done family dinner every night at 6:00 BUT rules are made to be broken!!!!! |
I have several house rules, several dog rules & several husband rules. Hubby tested one of the husband rules 3 weeks ago........it wasn't pretty. |
we have some rules here but they mostly apply to people coming over to the house, 1. The "N" word is not aloud 2. Smoke outside, we do 3. If you don't like the animals or how they act towards you, don't come around, they live here you don't there are more but I can't think of them at the moment |
1. No smoking!!!! 2. If you don't like my babies, please don't come over |
1. If you smoke do it outside - do NOT throw the cigarette butts in my yard unless you want to be out there picking every single one of them up 2. No dirty talk in front of my kids 3. Do NOT come into our home and insult one of our furkids - I actually threw one of DH's cousins out of the house for this 4. This is not a restaraunt. If you don't like what's for dinner feel free to do without - this rule doesn't apply to Susanah lol |
One rule: If you dont want animal fur on your clothes, dont sit on the FURniture! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D |

The reason I set this rule is because: 1) Riley is so small, it probably won't hurt him as much if someone steps on him without shoes. 2) To keep my apt clean. Some other rules I have are: 1) No smoking 2) No using my laptop 3) Don't feed or pick up Riley And last but not least since I'm 21 and have young party friends 4) No sex in my apt. Lol. I guess I'm alittle picky about my apt. Lol. But its my first VERY OWN apartment!!:D |
My rule that my bf ALWAYS forgets is when you take your shoes off put them in my closet or to the side. He always leaves them in the middle of the floor:mad: |
My rules are pretty much the same as everyone elses! #1 NO SMOKING, I don't, my family doesnt and my kids get more than enough 2nd hand smoke. #2 Remove shoes. This is pretty easy for me, and something I recently started doing since living in Japan, and quite honestly, it makes soooo much sense! #3 If a door is shut in my house, it is shut FOR A REASON! *this is usually to hide all of the mess I threw in there before company comes over* haha but still, it means you dont belong in there! |
My Rules: 1. NO SMOKING. If you HAVE to then do it outside and pick up your butts 2. Don't hold the door open. For my baby to run out 3. Leave shoes outside 4. No picking on my baby's ears his hair hasnt grown long yet. 5. No Use of the N word . i HATE that. |
We have a few rules in our house, some mine, some my fiance  -No furkids in the new bed (But they got their own bedroom instead ;) ) -No shoes in the house -No smoking in the house -Our new tan couches must be covered when furbabies are downstairs -If you don't like our furbabies, don't come around -Do not leave the toilet seat up (WHY IS THIS SO HARD FOR MEN TO REMEMBER?????) |
We had a house that was about 80% carpeted with almost white white carpet (my biggest mistake).....we didn't want to put up a sign for people to take their shoes off, be we NEVER had shoes on in the house and pretty much everyone just automatically took their shoes off at the door. All the people like utility/tech workers who came in are pretty well trained in this area to use booties when they enter a home so they usually bring their own. My suggestion to you is to go to a home improvement store and buy a big box of the booties. If people refuse to take their shoes off (some people are really funny about it...maybe they have dirty feet, or holes in their socks, I don't know), hand them a pair of booties. I would have NO problem telling someone who ignored that to leave. I don't tolerate disrespect in my own home for anyone or any reason. Quote:

I went to a class once and we were all asked to take off our shoes because we were walking on some exercise mats. No one knew before hand. This one guy had so many holes in his socks I could not believe it. It was like more hole than sock. Anyway, everyone laughed when someone yelled out, "look, Joe decided to wear his good socks today" He was so embarrassed. I thought oh he is a young bachelor, but then someone told me he was married. I could not believe his wife didnt throw those socks away. I think the booties are a good idea for someone who might not be prepared, or maybe has a foot odor problem. |
Smoking is aloud outside, and use the ashtray. Nobody touches my computer. The dogs have more clout then visitors. Pick up your mess. I have 3 kids counting my hubby who drop everything all over.. |
Here is some of my rules. 1. No smoking 2. Please take your shoes off. Just had all new carpet, flooring, etc. I don't post it, but most people know 3. Don't feed Maddie people food. 4. If you made the mess...clean it up (never happens, I do it) 5. Dirty clothes go in the hamper...not beside it..lol 6. and please please please shut the shower curtain. lol ( i know that's a stupid one, but after 15 years of marriage, my hubby still forgets that rule. lol ) it drives me crazy! 7. and last but not least....I'M ALWAYS RIGHT. lol (Just joking) |

I am more like my mom every day! Close the cabinets if you open them, and for goodness sake don't leave toothpaste spit in the sink! Wash it out. Also no smoking inside. I dont take my shoes off at home all the time and I dont mind if others do or not, but I certinly do at others homes! Last but not least, be nice to my dog. If you are not then make sure your health and life insurance are paid and up to date cause you may need to cash in! JK! |
I am a big fan of rules (especially since I babysit full time) 1. No smoking in my home 2. No running or playing in the dining room or living room (the kids have full run of the kitchen, family room and full finished basement) 3. Must use your inside voice (had to establish that one because my son is SO loud) 4. Pick up after yourself or I will put it in the garbage (dont care what it is - I will throw it out! my kids hate that rule) 5. Wipe the toothpaste out of the sink when you are done brushing your teeth (that drives my crazy) 6. My hubby's only rule is that you shut the lights off if you are not going to be in that room anymore!:) |
We really don't have any big rules...just lots of little ones!! 1. Always make sure you shut the garage door, we don't want any little ones running out 2. Don't tease the dogs...you wouldn't like it if they teased you 3. If you sit on the furniture, you will have puppies in your lap...so beware before you sit 4. Don't take any toys out of the dogs mouths, if they bring it to you and drop it than you can play but PLEASE don't just take it out of their mouths...they don't like it!! 5. No puppies in the bedrooms unless you are watching them closely...they will try to mark the bedrooms 6. Don't give the puppies treats unless you have asked We don't have any little kids so all of our rules are centered around the puppies...so if you don't like dogs and you want to see me, you are just going to have to suck it and deal with it!! LOL |
Take shoes off at door(just had new carpet laid) do not throw cigarette butts in my yard if you dont like my fur babys dont come over you take it out you clean it up rinse dishes off after eating(makes it easy clean up for me) this is not a restraunt what is cooked you eat or go hungry clean up after your self after showering and brushing teeth. put dirty clothes in hamper if your not in the room turn lights out do not touch my laptop dont put your feet on my coffee table do not sit on the arm of my furniture(just bought new furniture ) |
