My ENGAGEMENT party pictures

Ok so I had my engagement party 10/20/07. In my culture, once the guy proposes, you have a party a few months later to celebrate and bless the occasion. It is basically like a wedding only with less people. We had about 100 people, it felt and looked like a real wedding minus my big white dress (substitute with a big pink dress). The colors were pink and green. There was a priest there, who came, said a Prayer to bless the ring and us as a couple. Then we have this tradition where both families get in line and put all kinds of jewelry on me, hence why I have like a dozen necklaces on me in the pictures..lol They dance their way to me and put necklaces, bracelets, watches, rings and earrings on me. It was so much fun. Here's some pictures of it all...The little boy is my ring boy and nephew Jacob

The bottle of wine was our favor, we created our own label and we closed up the back of the label like a corset, with satin ribbon. Also the last pic is a wide view of the banquet room.

Here's me my mom and my maid of honor and sister. Then the head table. My nephew and me..hehe...and the beginning of the party, where hhis family enters, each with one tray and dance infront of us for like 15 min. The trays are filled with sweets, jewels, congnac, gifts, etc.

It's just how our culture is. It's really fun but it's a lot of work too. But no complaining here, we had a great time. Thank you for the compliment.

Why, why, WHY, wasn't I born into your culture? What is is exactly, b/c I'm putting in my vote for that the next time around:D !

How fun, it's like having two weddings! I LOVE weddings! And two dresses! I LOVE your pink dress. You look so happy and so does your fiancee...what a blast!

HAHA you crack me up I swear. I am Assyrian. Trust me for all we do for weddings our culture also has a lot of politics and gossip...lol..If you can do that and drink lots of tea WELCOME TO THE FAMILY..lol

wowie. I also wondered what your culture was. Assyrian is not something that you hear about very often...but it sounds very interesting!

We eat a lot of white rice (long grain of course), drink lots of tea, and love having big parties..hehe, you in?

I agree...what a stunning couple you are! The very best of luck to you both and i hope you have a long and happy marriage. my grandparents had their Diamond wedding celebration on the 20th october, I hope you are married as long as they are! I will have been married 14 years next may, i can hardly believe it!:eek:
